Not gonna lie -- This #EduSkyChat filled my heart tonight. I know that there are challenges to digital credentials and the ecosystem at large, but CHEERS to a group of educators sharing their appreciation of a new-version of education and learning! #EduSkyChat

A3: It's vital that we design OPEN badges moving forward. The technology behind building the metadata into the digital badge images is changing the way employers and higher-ed institutions verify skills rather than just claims on an application or resume. TRANSPARENT EARNING! #EduSkyChat

I also find that there's confusion around digital credential vocabulary. Which word do you use when? And does it mean what we want it to mean? I worked with IMS Global (Now 1EdTech) back in 2020 to redesign openbadges.org for this exact purpose!! #EduSkyChat

A2: Competency-based learning is just plain EMPOWERING!! It's respectful of skills that our learners bring into our spaces, which is SO important when working with adult learners. #EduSkyChat

A1: I've been in the digital credentialing space since 2013, focusing primarily on badges and micro-credentials for professional learning. It has a BIG place in my heart!! #EduSkyChat

A2: engaging with chambers of commerce in your city is a great start to learning more about the industries that are present & even forge parternships w/ city orgs there. Inviting guest speakers, planning industry field trips, & reaching out to caregivers who work locally are also options #EduSkyChat

And HI to #EduSkyChat community! I'm Cate from Santa Barbara, really happy to have these moments to pause and connect with all the caring educator sin our community!

A3 - Option B: I find that running my ideas through ChatGPT and prompting the AI to elevate the idea with UDL 3.0 principles and strategies is a PHENOMENAL way to keep accessibility and creativity top of mind. Keeps my brain clicking!! #EduSkyChat

Prompt Frame Example: "I am creating a lesson plan and need support integrating UDL 3.0 principles. Here is my lesson idea: [Insert lesson idea]. -- Perception (Guideline 1.2): Suggest ways to present information in multiple formats (e.g., visuals, audio, tactile)." #EduSkyChat

Q3: Option A: How do you involve students in accessibility conversations and foster a culture of inclusion? Option B: What advancements in tech or practices excite you most about making learning more accessible? #EduSkyChat

A2: I love to build professional learning Choice Boards to (1) empower educators to experience this strategy and (2) then offer students a variety of activity options aligned with their interests and learning preferences. Choice Boards + transparent assessment rubrics = WIN! #EduSkyChat

A1. Teachers need support in the area of accessibility with colors & fonts as they develop digital resources. we need to check for easily decipherable font size & types & make sure there is enough contrast between the font and background colors for various visual needs. #EduSkyChat

Hi #EduSkyChat friends! I'm Cate signing in from Santa Barbara and fangirling over our amazing (and intellectually generous) moderator, Katie, tonight!

A1: I think the big concern I have is SSO with my Google Account and knowing that so many accounts are dependent on those credentials makes me think hard about how secure it is. And so I imagine other educators worry too #EduSkyChat

A3: Children's Books from diverse authors, representing diverse groups and individuals, create a really special on-ramp for cultural representation that is both visual and oral. #EduSkyChat

A2: I think it helps for students to brainstorm/outline/write a script in advance of "sharing their voices" so that they limit the cognitive processing all at once. Step 1: Content. Step 2: Tech. Step 3: Share.
