Pharmacoepidemiology and Drug Safety has awarded Meghan Cupp Buxton the 2026 Ronald D. Mann Best Paper Award! Last year's paper "Opioid Use After Hip Fracture and Subsequent Fracture Outcomes: A Self-Controlled Case Series Design" was selected. Congratulations, Meghan!

Participants will learn how to 1) define dynamic treatment strategies, and 2) estimate the effects of dynamic treatment strategies using g-methods in real-world observational datasets using a target trial emulation approach.

New publication! Emma McGee is senior author on a new article, Tailored Exercise Strategies and Mortality Among Breast Cancer Survivors. Findings suggest individualized increases in aerobic exercise lower 10-year mortality risks. Read in JAMA Network Open: jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...

Last week in Phoenix, AZ ☀️ Sonia Hernández-Díaz delivered the SPER 2026 keynote, "Target Trial Emulations in Pregnancy: Challenges and Solutions." Her talk covered specific challenges we face when designing randomized trials in pregnancy. #causalinference #pregnancyresearch

New publication @annalsofim.bsky.social uses target trial emulation to examine GLP-1 use and pregnancy outcomes. Check out the @hsph.harvard.edu research spotlight, which quotes collaborator & first author Jeremy Brown. Study co-authors include Sonia Hernández-Díaz & Krista Huybrechts. 👇

According to a new Harvard Chan School study, taking GLP-1s during the first trimester of pregnancy does not appear to increase the risk of adverse outcomes. “Our findings are not informative about safety for sustained use in pregnancy,“ says @causalab.org's Jeremy Brown.
