local-first is not local-only multiplayer and sync and connecting peers needs some sort of cloud infra cloudflare does provide infrastructure to support that it can be even better for users to provide these features with nearby servers instead of us-east-1 how is that a problem?

hey @pfrazee.com i wonder how i can make my discover feed pleasant? im new here spent some time finding people from the tech, web and local first communities i like

chronological feeds are overwhelming and giving me FOMO, because when i dont read everything i might miss something good.

for reference, on twitter i can configure a swipe gesture to mark as not relevant and the algorithm is picking it up within minutes. as of now ive put in 3h and opening bluesky is depressing still. please help me.

spent even more time clicking "show less like this" on all the animal pictures, photography, politics, climate and more posts i dont want to see i muted 2x more words than i have muted on twitter already and yet i open the feed and 4 out of five posts are things i dont want to see

learning that i can tune the algorithm to show me stuff i enjoy seeing, from people i trust and that inspire me, even beyond my network, has made social media a pleasant experience for me i can trust an algorithm, once it learned, to give me relevant posts

has someone figured out how to make the discover feed show interesting stuff? for me its pictures of animals or art. or politics. i dont want to see either. i want to see posts about software engineering, web, ai and so on. i keep hitting "show less like this" but it has no effect.
