I've finally reached my limit of articles about professors lamenting the loss of being able to ask students to read whole books and write papers out of class. I teach at a two-year college and haven't stopped asking students to do exactly that. The hand-wringing over AI is a little much, IMO.

Thinking abt the occasional dogpiles I slip into on this site. The phenomenon of the influential journalist who has a stable of fanboys & -girls who pounce like attack dogs on anyone who takes issue with an opinion of the journalist's. Anyone else encountered this? I wonder abt the psychology of it.

Particularly eye-opening one from HCR. Should be shared widely. She quotes from an article by Michael Luttig talking about a nightmare scenario in which Mike Johnson goes along with Maga loyalists and refuses to seat Dems elected in the midterms. We need to be ready to fight back if it comes to that

It's highly likely that the country will survive Trump. The question isn't whether we'll survive it but whether we learn from the mistakes that led to Trump being elevated in the 1st place.
