People are incredibly stupid. Future oil chokepoint fuel crunches are an inevitability. The recent oil spike was just an entree. Let's see what happens to the volume of delivered goods when diesel climbs above $4 per litre. That is closer to the main course.

The Houthis have just entered the war. They control a second chokepoint - Bab al Mandeb. If blocked as well as Hormuz, expect petrol/diesel prices to go up even more. Maybe an extra $1 per litre on top of what we already have. edition.cnn.com/2026/03/28/w...

Just completed a relaxed, low-cost Saturday drive in my EV, now charging at home. Warrandyte—a popular Melbourne day-trip spot—remains bustling despite petrol at $2.59/L, with full carparks and busy restaurants. Will it remain that way if another oil chokepoint gets blocked?

The hard facts of the matter are that Petrol has always been heading for a structural decline—an economic death spiral. You can slice the data and the history any way you like, but serious analysis of geopolitics, industry supply chains, religious dynamics, and military strategy all point

Get used to petrol at $2.40 per litre or more—it could soon become the "discount" price. Or switch to an EV instead. At BYD Ringwood today I asked if sales have surged due to the war, the salesman said they've seen a lot of new business. A decent crowd was there browsing EVs, chatting with staff.

If Trump doesnt involve the US navy to open the strait of Hormuz - he risks a global recession (financial crash). But he does - he risks US ships being hit by an Iranian Sizzler missile. Sizzlers are Hypersonic, Cant be stopped - Mach 2.9 on their final trajectory. edition.cnn.com/2026/03/09/b...

Every litre of petrol or diesel carries a war premium — a cost shaped by global conflicts and supply instability. There is no upper limit to how high that premium can go. Electric vehicles (EVs), by contrast, have a war premium of zero.
