A game of Guildlands and multiple games of Pueblo today with friends (we also watched Isle of Dogs, as part of our regular movie night) - it's been wet and windy so a good day to stay inside and play #boardgames

My favourite games are ones where you build languages together. Ideas getting short-handed by a micro-community, for fun. I think this is actually how friendships, loves, communities and cares get built by humans. Creating a private language is the quickest and deepest way to connect with someone.

I saw two teen girls in the chemist the other day arguing with chatgpt voice mode about friendship drama like it was part of their friend group and I realised how different the world some people are living in is

UKGE socials certainly are something. they published a no-AI policy, then posted AI slop marketing, apologised for AI slop marketing, and then immediately posted AI slop marketing again. What a rollercoaster.

Binged our way through a bunch of The Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring - Trick-Taking Game today. Really enjoying puzzling our way through some of the chapters with friends. #boardgames

Unintentionally thematic globetrotting trade route building #boardgame night tonight with both The Voyages of Marco Polo and The Guild of Merchant Explorers tonight.

The first time I played Joraku was with Tim at UKGE, it was nearing the end of the event and I was exhausted and overstimulated. He whipped out this unassuming little box of cards and I proceeded to have the best hour of the whole weekend.

I genuinely think that there is a case to be made that I am agent zero for people's rediscovering Joraku in the UK. I've badgered fellow reviewers until they finally played it, & many went on to recommend it in articles & videos. I've written multiple articles & a video. I am evangelical.

We love the Minnesota State Fair, and this year's cake decorating theme was board games! Here are a few of our favorites for #NationalCakeDecoratingDay.

Some absolutely inspired artworks by friends in Create Camp tonight and also played more Tiger & Dragon which has firmly wormed its way into my brain as a recent favourite #boardgames

"Bury My Heart in Mockingbird Station" resonated deeply with me, and has been stuck on my head for weeks. Even here in the UK, as a gay man, the feelings of community rejection are strong from the post-industrial, slowly crumbling rural farm town that was once my home.

Happy bandcamp friday! In honor of the day where I make the most money, I finally have the tape version of my new album up on my bandcamp page. Experience the exotic folk-punk stylings of a chronically alienated southwestern woman, now in physical form! noise-land.bandcamp.com/album/postca...

Had a chance to play this, and it's the most stupid (complimentary), chaotic fun. We kept on asking for one more game, it's so quick to play. Though don't get too enthusiastic like me and accidentally elbow your friend in the face 🫣

Our new game GRABBLE is out today. It's a 5-minute frenzy of grabbing mismatched game pieces out of a box, then having a weirdly intense showdown with them. www.cmyk.games/products/gra...

Was at Tricks of the North con today, a one day event from Wigan Pies & Dice, of trick-takers, imports and other weird games. Was blessed by the company of @ava.foxfort.net and got to share some wonderful games including Sliced Anglerfish, Sosogisugi Sakazuki, Nokosu Dice and Create Camp #boardgames

UK Games Expo has banned generative AI art, text, and merchandise across all NEC exhibition halls, bringing the convention in line with broader British tabletop standards. Standholders face removal or bans if their products aren't made by humans. #UKGE

Some thinky #boardgames tonight, happy we managed to squeeze two chunkier games in. Picked up my own copy of Druids of Edora after a friend introduced me, and enjoyed trying a copy of Feya's Swamp.

Also played Bouba/Kiki by @unclejonbob.bsky.social - I love games that play with language and got to try some of the early scenarios with a large group today - there is a lot of variety in the booklet, can't wait to dig in more. For bonus points, can you guess which picture corresponds to the word?

More #boardgames at the weekly club today, featuring - The Gang: Deluxe (played with a whopping 9 players - we did not succeed), Nunatak: Temple of Ice, Sosogisugi Sakazuki and Wingspan: Pocket

Some chill #boardgames today between some couch collaborative group playing of puzzle video game He Who Watches (which is a banger by the way) - The Gang: Deluxe, Create Camp, Seas of Strife

Thank you so much to the hundreds of trans people and allies who joined today's mass lobby! The queue stretched across both sides of the road outside Parliament, and so many MPs participated in meetings and responded to green cards. Together, we delivered a powerful message for change πŸ³οΈβ€βš§οΈ

Oh I can do threads now, which means I can write more words about picks from #boardgames club today. Starting with Sosogisugi Sakazuki, a dexterity game about pouring sake. The components in this are excellent, everything fits into the can for storage and that is an actual ceramic sake cup.

Netrunner EMEA Online Continentals is happening right now! 105 players, with the current world champion and other top players in attendance πŸ₯΅ Faction breakdown in the second pic -- this will be the same banlist for Worlds.

Tuesday night #boardgames! A friend managed to track down the Greenhouse expansion for Botanicus and we also tried another of the HamishCon indies - Rare Groove which is a trick taker with set collection and market manipulation.

Managed to squeeze some bonus bank holiday dice based trick taking #boardgames, Mino Dice and Nokosu Dice, in after seeing Coyote Vs Acme (which was a lot of heartfelt fun)
