Both CTT and RRF are celebrating anniversaries this year, and we're just excited we can do it together. CTT was founded by folks who were sick of being told that they had to settle for less, especially when they were trying to do meaningful raptor conservation work. #raptor #research #conservation

So we're super excited to be here in Duluth, Minnesota, 15 years after the last meeting here, and 20 years since Mike built the first transmitter on his kitchen table at Powder Mill Avian Research Center in Somerset, Pennsylvania. If you're here, come say hi to us at our booth! #wildlife #telemetry

3/ By the next morning, Youbetcha was 80 km farther south. Each carries a 0.06 g solar BlūMorpho tag that phones and Motus-compatible stations pick up as the monarch passes. More than 1,300 monarchs have been tagged this fall by the Project Monarch Collaboration.

4/ Follow along at projectmonarch.org Featured monarchs tagged by Environment and Climate Change Canada, Assiniboine Park Conservancy, the Living Prairie Museum, Bemidji State University (student chapter of The Wildlife Society) and the Scarborough Rosetta Gardens Monarch Taggers.

projectmonarch.orgProject Monarch — Tracking monarch butterfly migration across a continentProject Monarch is a multi-organization collaboration tracking monarch butterfly migration across North America with ultralight solar transmitters and the world's largest wildlife tracking network.

2/ MB26011, released at the Living Prairie Museum in Winnipeg, was heard in Del Rio, Texas, and 37 minutes later across the Rio Grande in Coahuila. Within 48 minutes, Youbetcha from Bemidji, Minnesota, and Noor from Toronto were heard near Palaú, Coahuila.

2/ Sponsor an owl: $24 gives a leg-band owl a year of detection data. $300 puts a transmitter leg band on an owl with your name on its tracker card. $2,000 puts a GPS backpack on a saw-whet, and we'll send you its track every month through spring.

We are so excited to see Paul, Joe and team deploying BlūMorpho tags on Yellow-brows! Meeting Paul and Joe at the EOU meeting in Bangor, Wales, last spring led to some great conversations about tracking vagrant species with this new tech...and now to see those conversations coming to fruition...

First days at the ringing camp in Pape, Latvia 🇱🇻 Main goal is to try these new Blumorpho (Bluetooth) devices, here on a Yellow-browed Warbler. Hopefully, we could get nice trajectories of this species in Europe coupled with the genomic origin of each bird.🤞

How do you track an animal that weighs 0.5g? With #WildlifeTech that weighs almost nothing at all. The #BlūMorpho is the smallest wildlife transmitter ever deployed on a #MonarchButterfly built in Cape May, NJ. Tiny tag, huge leap for migration science. #ScienceInMotion #WildlifeConservation

The Xerces Society is made up of some of the best invertebrate researchers and conservationists. We are so excited to work with them whenever we can- and so glad that they are an integral part of the #ProjectMonarch Collaboration!

From rain to starlight; an engaging plenary to a night in the Costa Rican highlands with Ernesto Carman and the Unspotted Saw-whet Owl. Science, persistence, and conservation at their best. We're all excited for what’s ahead. #RRF2025 #RaptorResearch #WildlifeTech #CostaRica 🦉🪶🇨🇷

Hawks, swifts & hummers—Costa Rica in motion. Broad-winged Hawks lifting with 100s of White-collared Swifts; Volcano, Scintillant & Lesser Violetears jousting over flowers near Poás. Back in San José for the #RRF2025 conference and so stoked! #BirdMigration #CostaRica

In Costa Rica for the Raptor Research Foundation conference 🇨🇷 and already speechless — Mike & Trish joined the Talamanca Hawk Watch where 2–4 K raptors ride each thermal south. Migration, family, and science all in one view. #RRF2025 #RaptorMigration #CostaRica #WildlifeTech

Since 2012, we've tracked 250+ bald eagles (146 as nestlings)! One female, originally caught in OK and now grown up and nesting in KS, is now heading north. In winter, eagles feed on gut piles, risking lead poisoning from ammo. Hunters can help by switching to lead-free. #BaldEagle #Conservation

Happy Canada Day 🇨🇦 to neighbors to the north. Here's a Kirtland's Warbler, one of the many species who know no borders, and could care less about political flexing. He flexes only to find a mate and continue the lineage of the Kirtland's Warblers that came before him...

it takes collaboration to ensure the continued existence of this and so many other species. We don't have time to waste being xenophobic and isolationist; we need partnerships and trust- which is what CTT has with our brothers and sisters of Canada. #telemetryTuesday #WildlifeConservation #Birds 🪶
