"One of the best right-handed swings I've ever seen." "He's just so talented -- [and] he could be playing college baseball right now." new for Yahoo Sports, on 22-year-old Jackson Chourio, front and center of another rollicking Brewers October victory: sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/...

one of several close plays that tilted in MIL's favor in Game 1 -- DeLuca's defense has been spectacular all year (and obviously why he's in the lineup with a .261 xwOBA), and it actually did feel like he had a chance to catch it new for Yahoo Sports: sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/...

Mike Petriello@mikepetriello.bsky.social

One play that shouldn't get lost from G1: Johnny DeLuca not hauling in Yelich's triple, which ended up being a huge deal. But: It was a minor miracle he even got there. He got off to a jump +8.3 better than average. This ended up being a 10% catch probability. Most guys don't get a chance to dive.

"He works out for about five hours, hits about 30 balls off the tee, and then goes out and rakes." on the remarkable Yandy Díaz, a franchise fixture whose no-doubt HR in ALCS Game 6 sent the Tampa Bay Rays back to the World Series, new for Yahoo Sports: sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/...

sports.yahoo.comYandy Díaz, one day after calling his shot, delivers a no-doubt homer to help send the Rays to the World Series"He said we were gonna win. He did his part," Rays president of baseball operations Erik Neander said after Tampa Bay's victory in ALCS Game 6. "That was unbelievable."

it was obviously pretty early and it got lost further because of all that came after it in Game 6 but considering how dangerous Chase DeLauter was, Liam Hicks flipping this called ball to end the inning has a strong case as the best ABS challenge of the postseason by a catcher (so far, anyway)

in a Guardians season defined by a few other higher-profile rookies, Petey Halpin largely flew under the radar but with one big swing in September and now an even bigger swing in October -- plus a huge bat flip -- Cleveland is now chanting his name: sports.yahoo.com/mlb/article/...

sports.yahoo.comPetey Halpin becomes the Guardians' latest unlikely hero with the big swing to take ALCS Game 3 over the RaysThe 24-year-old Halpin has been a surprising late addition to a Guardians season already defined by impact rookies.

one subplot to monitor (among many) as the Dodgers try to avoid getting swept... since it was lengthened to best-of-7 in 1985, just 3 teams have hit 0 HR in the LCS 1990 A's (swept BOS) 1995 Reds (swept by ATL) 2002 Twins (lost in 5 to LAA) ...2026 Dodgers?! we'll see!

once again, all eyes are on Yoshinobu Yamamoto and if he can add to his legendary October resume Yamamoto allowed a HR to Jackson Chourio on the first pitch of NLCS Game 2 last year but then only 3 more MIL batters reached after that as he went CG what happens this year?
