🤝 I believe stronger partnerships can bring agricultural research closer to Africa’s farmers. 🌍 In Abidjan, I joined Simeon Ehui for talks with @afdbgroup.bsky.social President Sidi Ould Tah and Côte d’Ivoire’s Agriculture Minister Bruno Nabagne Koné to advance this shared goal.

Innovation matters when it moves from ideas to impact. This #WorldFoodDay, I’m inspired by what I saw at a recent visit to #IITA in Ibadan: science and innovation working toward a more resilient, food-secure future.

Africa’s food sovereignty isn’t about turning away from global markets. It’s about building greater choice and resilience. Dr Simeon Ehui and I share how stronger seeds, soils and markets can build Africa’s productive capacity and strengthen global food security 👉 https://on.cgiar.org/3VjEmwb

Welcome to Dr. Nizar Haddad, ICARDA's new Director General! He's led national research, private sector innovation and FAO programs. I believe that mix is what turns dryland science into real impact for farmers 🌱

It’s exciting to see the energy coming out of CGIAR Scaling Week - our largest yet, with 400+ people from 40+ countries and 100 organizations. I have to admit it feels like I'm missing something huge 😱 Watching from afar, I wish I was there in person!

🌾 🌍 Africa does not lack solutions. What we need is to get better at taking what works to scale. Reaching people with a technology is not the same as transforming a system. Partnerships are so critical to making that happen. #AFSForum2026

🎤 🇩🇪 At the Hamburg Sustainability Conference, I reflected on why South–North innovation must work both ways. As climate change accelerates, there is much to learn from communities in the Global South that have been adapting to its impacts for decades.

🎤 I moderated a discussion at the Hamburg Sustainability Conference on how multistakeholder partnerships can catalyze South–North innovation. From health and nutrition to food security and climate change, our challenges are deeply connected. Our partnerships must be too 🤝

🎤 🇬🇧 A wonderful discussion today at The Power of Partnerships during #LCAW2026. Tackling climate change requires stronger partnerships across science, policy, finance, and local action. No single institution can deliver the transformation we need alone.

🏆 I am delighted to congratulate Dr. Namukolo Covic on receiving this recognition from the Food and Nutrition Society of Ethiopia. Her leadership, commitment, and ability to bring people together around a shared vision continue to inspire many of us.

Many of the solutions we need already exist in local and traditional knowledge. I encourage eligible organizations working across food, water, ecosystems, and communities to apply for the Earthna Prize by 20 July 2026. https://on.cgiar.org/3SdasIh

🌱 CGIAR is increasingly the last institution standing in places where public funding has stepped back. And we are actively looking for foundation partners who want to put their climate, nutrition & resilience investments on firmer scientific ground. #Philanthropy

At the @adb.org Annual Meeting, I joined a discussion on building food and water resilience by treating ecosystems as connected landscapes. Our shared task now is to invest in systems that bring proven solutions to farmers at scale.

📍In Samarkand at @adb.org Annual Meeting, we're discussing how science, investment and regional cooperation must come together to strengthen food and water systems under growing global pressures. I know the science already exists. The real challenge is scaling proven solutions

🎤 It was an honor to speak at the High-level Ministerial Meeting at the International Date Palm Conference. 🌴 Date palms are central to food security in dryland regions. As climate, water, and pest pressures grow, securing their future requires integrated, cross-border action.

🌍 Great week at #SIAM Morocco where important conversations on the future of African agriculture are happening. Livestock systems, climate pressures, rising demand - the choices we make today will shape food security, livelihoods, and health. And science must guide the path forward.

🌍 Earth Day Across the world, I see both the urgency of the challenges we face and the incredible potential to solve them. 🌾 Food systems are part of the problem, but they are also a big part of the solution. That’s where our focus must be.

🇨🇦 Investing in agriculture is not optional. It is essential for resilience, both in Canada and around the world 🌍 🗞️ Great to speak with The Globe and Mail on how disruptions in the Middle East are putting the most vulnerable at risk 👉 https://on.cgiar.org/47Isrve

📍Washington, DC 🇺🇸 Thanks to our partners at Farm Journal Foundation, we joined US Congressional staffers to share how food security underpins national security, and how US farmers and the economy benefit from @cgiar.org research.
