Currently flashing back to a discussion i had with a friend where I told them that instead of just begging to any power that be that you get a new game in a series that you instead either (a) seek games with similar stories/plots/gameplay mechanics or (b) research what the devs made after...

Like i get that people are sad there'll probably never be a ME5 but at a certain point you gotta just make peace with that and move on to either playing something else or just keep playing the MEs you do have and be happy with those.

Not to mention I care way more about the devs that make games and the vibes and gameplay they bring more than just getting +1 added to the end of a title because I recognize nobody makes the same series forever but that's just me.

...they made the game series you like so the spirit of those folks' work live on in other games you get to play. They got mad at me for saying that because they wanted a new installment of their series above anything else.

Granted we were talking about the Mario RPGs and Metroid (two series i doubt will die out in my lifetime) but it still applies to both of those as well as Mass Effect.

Once again it sucks that Fortnite is collabing with a ton of series I like right as they go all in on genAI because had they done this like 3 years ago they'd have my money so fast for a lot of these.

I love Sonic, I love Kingdom Hearts, I love Persona, and now we got One Piece coming to Fortnite but I can't properly enjoy it because it's gonna have ai shit in it so guess who's skipping

If Epic releases a statement saying no more AI in Fortnite and also they have Tim Sweeney tied to a chair with his mouth taped shut then I'll get the collabs but until then...

Video games are far from perfect now but oh my god the medium has gone a long way since the 90s and 2000s that it's easy to find a game you like or want to play and just play it.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

There's more variety now with how many new series of games there are that branch into different genres where it feels like each year it's hard to look at all games on the horizon and not get excited for at least one.

I know i have my complaints about the gaming industry now, but there's still a lot of good coming out of it. You just have to find it by sifting through the bad news. There's still a lot of great games out there.

If you wanted gaming news, you had some very rudimentary websites and gaming mags that came once a month and often printed stuff that was just wrong. Nowadays every dev and company has social media for you to just follow. And it isnt hard to figure out if you'd like a game or not.

Seeing a grown-ass adult blindly play a game for your childhood game is real funny because they'll just bewildered by every little thing in the game and you're just like "yeah that's just in the game did you really not know that?"

Scope creep means that your sequel can't just be a follow up to the first game that makes sense and just adds some extra spice to a game you already consider good, it also refers to shit like this.

HOW ABOUT MAKING A SEQUEL TO BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL

Like who exactly wanted BG&E2 to be a live service always online game to give Fortnite and FF14 a run for their money? And who wanted BG&E2 to just be a follow up to the first game with a new campaign and some neat extra gimmicks?

It's okay for a game to just do a few things really well and end, we don't need it to change to an entire different genre and try to be everyone's forever game.

Scope creep is a phrase thrown around a lot but I've seen it moreso used to describe things like games suddenly getting massive worlds to explore, graphics being too detailed than they need to and games feeling like they can't just be 20 hour comps anymore but stuff like this also should count.

Blumhouse going from making 2 fnaf movies where they have to skirt around the premise of "someone killed a ton of kids and shoved the bodies inside chuck e. cheese mascots" to making a Danganronpa TV show is honestly hilarious to me

Tbh I kinda joke about pushing a little guy agenda but I genuinely do want people to see my daily moogles (or daily chao from last year) and get inspired to draw their favorite little guys and flood the internet with art of them. Like 2 of my friends have done this slightly because of me so...

This tattoo took me like 3 sessions to get and it cost less than what the next Xbox is projected to cost (and is something I get to have forever).

It's not too late to just delay the next console gen it honestly feels like we've barely done anything in the current console gen. Especially since wtf can the next consoles even do that'll get people to actually want a new one? Better graphics? They're already regularly realistic enough. Pass.

Im genuinely trying to think what the next Xbox/PS6 can realistically do to justify being over $1,000 and all i can think of that comes close is just "be gaming laptops instead". Like yeah, idk if that'll justify the price but it'd be SOMETHING other than more better graphics.

At this point I don't wanna see another article stating most studios use genAI unless it wants to also give me a list of which specific studios are using it.

A new report, which interviewed 101 leaders from studios across North America and Europe, found that 94% said their studios use AI at some stage in development, but more than half said it isn’t deeply embedded into their production pipeline. www.videogameschronicle.com/news/report-...

Also this was based on a collection of 101 anonymous interviews of "senior studio leaders and decision makers". Even if each person interviewed is at a different studio 101 studios is FAR from all game studios.

Like we're in a day and age where Epic Games, Level 5, Square Enix, Microsoft, all will say with their collective chests that they use genAI so why so anonymous here, huh?

Like i don't doubt that a ton of studios are trying to see how they can use AI to make games to any degree. But "most game studios are using AI to make games somehow" is vague af and imo requires more details. Especially since these interviews are all anonymous.

"94% of studios use AI now" Okay???? And are these studios in the room with us? Are they using genAI or something that's just called "using AI" to make the shareholders go brrrr?

Like if you @'d me 100 times a day asking me shit like "Mark, respond to my work emails for me" "Mark, turn my selfie into anime" "Mark, can I eat tin foil" "Mark, edit this girl's photo so shes in a bikini" then I'd definitely hate you.

I am curious that when the OoTmake comes out how a newcomer will react to Navi during gameplay. In the 2000s and 2010s she was THE poster girl for annoying tutorial handholdy characters. But nowadays since most adventure games have a character like that if people will even hate her that much/at all?
