It’s POBOY WEEK! Up first is new to me Korean BBQ from Singleton’s Uptown/Black Pearl. Absolute 10/10. Fresh as fuck, savory, substantial, all the fuel you need to be up for the next 20 hours.

Crabby Jack’s fried green tomato topped with shrimp remoulade. Yes sir! Perfect combo of hot/cold for those warmer days, and a softer, substantial French loaf. 10/10.

Visited the king cake glory hole for a Balboni’s Cannoli King Cake. Very cream filled. Very glorious. Much tradition. 15/10. Best surprise in my mouth this year.

What’s that? A savory king cake from Blue Oak stuffed with pulled pork stuffed in buttery bread with a dill dipper to boot. 14/10

New (to me) top tier. Joe’s Donuts traditional with cream cheese. Whole thing: glazed, just like your mom. 12/10 it’s like a festive donut. What’s not to like?

**NEW REVIEW** McKenzie’s, famous for their buttermilk drops, is doing a buttermilk drop king cake. Exceptional. A buttermilk drop for those not in NO is a cakey, very dense donut, with lightly creamy icing. It’s obviously improved by arranging into a cake and adding festive sugar. 8/10

The nontraditional GOAT is back after 3 years: The Donut Hole in Laplace serving up the most fire donut-inspired cake and the lightest whipped cream icing on the planet. Absolute 15/10, worth the drive to LaPlace.

Office also supplied a Haydel’s traditional stuffed with cream cheese. It’s cream cheese day, I guess. 8/10 only because I liked the cream cheese ratio on Adrian’s better. One of my favorites for sure.

Hit up the hands down traditional GOAT today at Manny Randazzo’s. Drove last and there was no line so… absolute 10/10. Light, fluffy, low cinnamon, hint of citrus, and absolutely bangin’ icing.
