I wrote a bit about IDEs, and about how lots of creative coding languages/IDEs assume the user doesn't want to code (which is essential to get people into programming! But I ask what happens next?) and some silly experiments I have been doing! www.media.mit.edu/projects/exp...

Not the be dramatic but Big Corporate Brand and Marketing™️ is a putrid bubble made from the blood of a violent system of covert wealth concentration. Blameless, self-absorbed, contrived, and completely bodiless.

Invited to the Anthropic dinner they had us fill out a questionnaire asking us who was the most interesting person we met, the AI listened to our convos, gave us a ranking from least to most interesting; I’m sad to say I got least interesting. Claude took me out back and shot me.

"When a bridge collapses, you don’t analyze whether the bridge was ethical or sentient or why it decided to collapse. You ask, who built this bridge to be so flimsy? There are permits you have to acquire [& supposed] tests. When you ask about the bridge collapsing itself, you’ve lost the thread"

if you’ve been through the tech layoff wringer its worth looking for software jobs at places that aren’t tech companies. hospitals, municipal and state governments, universities - all of these places need programmers and a lot of the jobs are even union!

I’m hosting a math club and one of the guys assumed I didn’t know what an LLM is and explained it to me. The life I would have to live to not know what an LLM is and also use my free will to host a math club is one I wish I had.

Yes this is what I’ve been saying, a tech employee is regularly asked to make a decision that will affect infrastructure for millions of people, that is more control than a lawmaker

As a general rule, I would say that most things we are being told to believe are technology issues are actually civics issues. 5/5

I had a dream last night that there was a group like the free masons but they were about writing compression algorithms and the right to choose to compress and they had a really long name and didnt allow anyone to use a nickname for them but only they could use their nickname

It's time to bring back regular #EdChat from the best days of Twitter to Bluesky so educators can meetup regularly, share ideas and notes, and build community. This type of community and solidarity is essential now as education & educators are under threat. #EthicalCS #CSforAll #CSed #EDUsky

We are announcing a “community supported” membership type at hex and already the people who want to use it as a trial to use to work their high income designer jobs are asking for it. The comfort at which theyre asking to be supported by the community MISSES ME

While theses ENDLESS amounts of people who actually need it 🤔maybe if they listen to the lyrics of lean on me by bill whithers “Please swallow your pride If I have things you need to borrow For no one can fill those of your needs That you won't let show”

Just typical people who comfortable to ask for help get on top continue to do so even when they’re well off and those who never ask for help who actually need it opt to suffer. No shame on the guy who asked for the community supported membership, smart of him, albeit a little tone deaf

im learning french (apologies in advance) there are so many different words for little walk as an american im getting culture shock. Promanade, marcher, balade, faire un tour, à pied theyre all little walks around. They have more words for big walks.. not even getting into that

no single tool or art project will "fix" climate change. our job as imaginative people with technical skills is to form a distributed but aligned ecosystem of creative interventions that identify harms, care and repair, and replace toxic patterns

Then I was buying a train ticket and the woman in front of me was distraught she was short $18 and so I give her the 20. This time I was about to miss my train but I got caught in the doors and an old lady also wanted to get on so I like pried them open for her and let her on, she was like

“Thank you I needed that I just had my wallet stolen” then, I’m not kidding, everyone clapped. Then waiting for my train out a met a random woman who was there to meet up with a man she met on the telephone & she will update me if they are the loves of eachothers lives

The first time I went I was biking from Pittsburgh to DC I camped next to this couple that was down on their luck and asked me for $20 so i gave it to them, then as I was biking in a random man stops me and says he gives $20 to travelers and just gives me $20

Making a period tracker yourself is a really amazing way to take over your digital agency!! I want to teach a workshop where we each make a simple securely hosted (or locally hosted) website (that doesn't rely on large hosting platforms) where you can easily go to and enter your data

After making a decision arbitrarily as a teenager, I am finally free from the tyranny that is godaddy, not limited to the time that they broke my mail records trying to turn my website into a vibe coded tile store website

I don’t care if the Google quantum computer has no real life applications- I want to use it for a different non practical application: making the fastest integer multiplier (its not practical because it uses a 1729 dimensional Fourier transform aka a GALACTIC ALGORITHM) hal.science/hal-02070778...

My fav rx happening was traveling home, ticket canceled, my bag was overweight (I opted to trashing/wearing 3kg of clothing in the summer) tsa swabbed all my stuff & then passport control machine just showed me a picture of an exhausted man, didn’t take my picture and then just let me through.

Shout out Mr jones high school math teacher when he taught us primes he was like “I know it seems innocuous but they’re kind of a big deal” but still even then nothing could have prepared me for what they are

2010s data selfie movement would have loved today’s tools. I really haven’t seen a whole lot of “I tracked this part of my life deeply” projects… we are all so tired on being tracked tracking our own data sounds horrible
