Another horror game for October - Hellraiser: Revival. Pretty much the first #Hellraiser game and they went all in on gore, sex, gore, kink, gore, blood, gore, corpses, gore, gore, and more gore! (Not complaining btw.) Fighting off cultists is getting old and will they just shut the hell up!

Guess I should put this here: I started playing SH:Townfall the other day (the day I got it actually) and so far, I'm liking much better than SH:f. Feels more like the original SH but in first-person. Still early but as long as it gives me some idea of what to do next, I'm happy.

Getting to the end of this (chapter 6) and JFC(!) do they HAVE TO pad out games so much??? Okay. Okay. I'm over it. I will say that this SH seems to lean VERY heavy into number codes to complete puzzles. Would have been nice to see more object oriented ones. And enough office furniture please!!

And...credits! (A disadvantages of video games as a consumable media format: you never know how close you are to the end.) I'm not sure if I liked/needed the "message" SH:T was sending, but getting there was mostly enjoyable. It could have been a few hours shorter tho. #SilentHillTownfall

Getting ready for bed last night after playing a good amount of Silent Hill Townfall: "I wore this shirt out today, ate in it, and I gamed in it." It gave me a strange sense of pride. I was also a bit high at the time.

Burn me if you want but...I had an idea for a horror themed nativity scene (I know, not very original). I knew what I generally wanted it to look like and using Google create, I did it. Took adjustments (unreal how easy it is to work with) but wouldn't let me make a bloody Mary figure. Go figure.

Nintendo announced a new Metroid game today and I figured I should FINALLY open and try Metroid Prime 4 Beyond for the Switch 2...a console I haven't done much with to be honest. Playing on controller and feels pretty good - unlike the old GC days. Old MP was a beast to handle. Early FPS days.

I've always enjoyed the 007 games from older consoles and I was a little hesitant getting into this newer one. Being designed by the Hitman (not my favorite) dev team and it being an "origin" story and the character looking way too young...I had my reservations.

And, initially, those reservations were justified. It takes FOREVER to get out of "training" mode! But once you do, it starts to feel like a genuine Bond game. I still miss the mature, adult secret agent, but I know it's (supposedly) what the masses want these days.

Played about an hour or so of Dispatch on Luna and...canceled my pre-order for the PS5 version. Designed for mouse/keyboard and I don't think I've ever felt such an air of depression once I got away from a game. The main character is a real drag. Saved money.

So, 24 years after it's release, I FINALLY played some of Killzone (the PS3 version - I have the PS2 disc, but wanted the updated performance). Why do all the old FPS games look so...brown? High marks for allowing custom button mapping. A bit hardcore - if you die, it's back to the level start.

I remember this supposedly being Sony's "Halo killer" app. From what I've seen so far, it was far from that. Decent shooter, but nowhere near Halo's setting, enemies, and story. I'm looking forward to the sequels.

Brings back memories of playing Killzone Shadow Fall, one of the very first PS4 games I ever bought. I can't say it was particularly memorable except for the REALLY bad rain effects. Looked like shreds of paper falling from the sky lol.

Decided to start playing games that I've had forever and never played. Started with Turok 3. Turok 1 was a favorite on my early PC and then I played 2 on the N64. I didn't even know about 3 until Nightdive remastered it. Brutally simple game, tough for me even on Easy.

Thanks to this fucker, I really thought I was done with Turok 3. Fortunately, I figured out his "weakness" and on *EASY* was able to beat him TWICE (since I didn't realize when the game did it's autosave). This game takes me back to a N64 Duke Nukem game that I finally had to sell to stop playing.

So, this game. Great 30's era cartoon style. Great Troy Baker voice acting. Funny mouse puns galore. But (yeah, there's always a BUT), it's simple questing with random gun battles against the same mouse enemies. Not sure if there's enough here to keep me playing.

Next new game: Silent Hill f. What does the "f" stand for? No idea. Maybe it means "this is unlike any other Silent Hill game you've ever played" or "you'll be running around tight spaces trying to fight with bad melee weapons" or...maybe you're just "f"-ed. Not for me.

Finally got around to opening up a game I've bought: John Carpenter's Toxic Commando. Good news: The music is GREAT, just like his movie soundtracks. Bad news: Boring gameplay. Too much trying to be a group shooter with resource gathering and waves of monsters. Oh well.

Holding the World Cup in the US, the only country in the world that doesn't care about soccer (and doesn't even call it by its right name), is like having a war in Switzerland. At least it's neutral territory, I guess.

@thebrickfan.bsky.social Thought you might like to know there are 3 LEGO Pokemon sets coming soon (saw box art on Reddit this morning but got deleted) - Charmander and Geodude (not great looking) - Gengar and Cubone (sort of okay) - Jigglypuff w Smart Brick integration (awesome!)

Game of the Week update: No Gow currently, but I have tried a few Game Pass games...and haven't found a good one yet. Trepang 2 - Kind of a John Wick FPS but boring setting and too good enemy AI. Plus, no aiming with left trigger? WTF? Sold the sealed copy.

Mixtape - IGN gave it a 10? Must have been a young reviewer. Was annoyed with it almost immediately. Indika - Was expecting something different I guess. Old world Russian nun combined with...8-bit arcade graphics?? Environmental puzzles were good but couldn't stay with the story.

YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES! YES!

Star Fox For Switch 2 Launches June 25th.

In honor of Alien Day (4/26), I decided to try Aliens Colonial Marines for PS3. Didn't realize it was set between Aliens and Alien3. Basically the "rescue" squad sent to find the Sulaco. Has Michael Biehn and Lance Henriksen playing their parts. Also bought the Hicks DLC off PS3 store.

Cura Museorum: Giving the PS3 a little love this week. First off...an update! Cool Sony still does that. Also glad they still have a digital store on PS3. Decided to get Killzone HD FOR $15 instead of dropping $40 for a trilogy I don't need (already have 2&3). Found the controller too.

Grip extensions are a must for me on DualShock controllers. I also put on thumbstick covers and extended triggers. But, I have to admit I'd rather use the PS4 controller I paired with the Wingman adapter plugged into the USB port. Didn't get enough PS4 controllers back in the day.

Game(s) of the Week Update Replaced: What we get these days for a lot of games - pixel 2.5D graphics. Hell, Alien3 on the SNES looked better. Combat is okay, but gets old quick. Immortals of Aveum: Gives me a serious Fable vibe...which is a good thing. Need to play more.

Banishers: Engaging characters, interesting NPC's, creepy setting, well written dialogue...but I REALLY hope the combat gets better. Not sure what's wrong. Dodge doesn't seem like it gets you out of the way fast enough and I keep getting hit in combat. Not done yet, tho.

Yeah...Game of the Week took a bit of a noise dive. Didn't get back to Sand Land but I think I might be done with it anyway. This last week has been more about keeping my OG Xbox's from dying from cap erosion. I also want to spend sometime with some Game Pass games so GotW is on hiatus for now.

Cura Museorum: These are my other 3 Xbox's. Opened up the Halo one and found (to my considerable relief) that the capacitor was one of the gold (ie, good) ones. No changes needed.

Third Xbox looks like a V1.3 based on manufacturer date. Very clean (so I guess it wasn't used much) and the clock cap is gold. 👍 Decided to leave it in. CPU caps are a little puffy. Not sure what the "mobo runes" are. 🤔

Next, opened up one of the black ones that I must have gotten at a thrift store - still had the $40 price tag. Turns out it is a V1.0 with a GPU fan. Cap wasn't too bad. Cleaned up the mobo and I think it will be fine.

I waited and waited for a good sale on this. Then, about 3 weeks ago, I bought it on a really good sale for Switch. "Finally!", I thought. Now, this....*sigh*. Well, still want to thank tinybuild for the free gifts! :D

Cura Museorum: OG Xbox After some research, found out the clock cap was the culprit for why the Xbox was turning itself on. I've removed the bad part but don't know if I'll have to do anything else. Don't want to remove the mobo if I don't need to.

Well, MsSarah's was a V1.1 from what I could tell. Took out the cap and it doesn't look too bad. System needed a good dusting so good to get that in as well.

Well, Reddit seems to think it's toast so no more work on it. It still plays discs but I'll leave it unplugged and update the time whenever I use it. Have to say, not the worst system to have to open and work on. Now I have to find my other OG's and see what version they are. Hope MsSarah's is 1.6.

Game of the Week #6: Sand Land (PS5) Purchase Date: 11/21/24 Opportunistic buy during Black Friday '24. I have NO IDEA what this game is about. Only know that the artwork is done by the same person who did Dragon Ball. Going to be using the PS+ version so this can stay sealed.

Finished up Kena! Ran into the issue where it was either too easy or too hard. Level above Story mode made it so you could only heal once per Rot pillar per battle so it could get bad real fast. But really enjoyed the game. Looking forward to the sequel!

Game of the Week...is...Kena... I'll admit I didn't get in as much playtime this week as I should have but I do have to say it's becoming a bit of a grind. I've come across a new enemy that can basically one-hit kill me EVEN IN STORY MODE! I'm pushing on but, yikes!, it's not easy.

Game of the Week is still...Kena! I was able to "upgrade" to Easy mode, but eventually had to go back to Story. But that's okay - the game has some challenges that have nothing to do with enemy difficulty. Great puzzles, platforming and fighting mechanics!

Cura Museorum: OG Xbox Whelp, it keeps turning itself on. Looks like I'll have to do some surgery on it at some point. Not too worried since it still works fine - it just can't be left plugged in. Something to do with corrosion from aging capacitors? Did some much needed dusting too.
