Impostor syndrome seems to be very common among artists, game devs, writers, and other creatives - judging from what I see here at bsky. What about entrepreneurs - existing or would-be? Anyone out there struggling with this? #MentalHealth #Entrepreneurs #ImpostorSyndrome

🧵 Dear Republican lawmakers, Canada has the largest intact boreal forest on the planet. An increasingly hotter world due to #ClimateChange makes longer dry seasons, far larger wildfires & yes, more smoke. No amount of "raking" fixes it. The scientists warned of exactly this for a very long time /1

Canada's National Observer@nationalobserver.com

"If Canada can't get these wildfires under control, they need to face real consequences," said Wisconsin state Rep. Calvin Callahan in a news release Wednesday. "We won't sit back while our air becomes a health hazard."

This, a million times. And when someone is promoted from the ranks, in an org with no culture for - or expectation of - good management, then, surprise, it remains a mystery why people leave.

Most people don't quit companies, they quit bad managers It took me years to understand this properly. In 20 years I've had both kinds, and the difference was never what someone could expect. The good ones, from my own career: 🧵👇

It's still early here, but this made my day #sciencefuckingrocks

Being an entrepreneur/freelancer is “not for the weak”, is a sentiment I see a lot. But neither is having a crappy boss, I might counter. So what to do, if you’re struggling one way or the other?

And I know (and you know) that far from all of those presenting as top-dog, “crushing it 24/7” are half as good as they (and we) think they are. Dunning-Kruger is definitely a thing here!

My hunch is, that this performing of exellence (legit or not) probably intimidates some people who really shouldn’t be. Who have a lot to offer as entrepreneurs or freelancers, but just need a tiny push.

There is a kind of macho, lone-rider kind of narrative that I think is holding people back, if they don’t roll with the alpha-male, survival of the fittest philosophy often being presented.
