Dodonpachi survival tier list after clearing 1st loop with all ships: A: C-L, C-S B: B-L, B-S, A-L C: A-S C ships both great: trade off stage survival (C-S) vs. boss fight strength (C-L). C-L likely better overall for 2nd loop All other ships are decent. A-S worst due to narrow shot + bad laser

I was surprised to find the B ships slightly better than A, given how underplayed they are. They're slightly weaker but better screen coverage helps for survival

B-S wide shot is so good that it's still high tier despite being the slowest ship. B-L has good laser and decent shot when fully powered, but low power shot is bad so recovery can be an issue.

I'd recommend B-S for first 1all, because EX's lack of bombs means you can't bomb spam stage 5 and have to know a good route for the hardest parts B-EX feels the most consistent if going for 1st loop no-miss

B-EX is clear top tier with wide shot and good laser. Movement speed on slow side but that actually helps with micrododging A-S has weak slow laser and A-L has weak narrow shot, made up for by fast move speed + good power on primary weapon. A-EX has best of both so is pretty good

Today's M2 Senxin Aleste announcement reminded me that I got to play it on a cab in Japan a few years ago. I wasn't very good back then - looking forward to playing it again

Experiencing this with Dodonpachi DaiOuJou (scrub bomb spam 1all 1yr ago, working on 1-round with Hibachi now, aiming for 2all in the future). Relationship with the same stages and ship types keeps changing with my skill level

Got an Under Defeat 1-all but didn't record it... I thought the port had replays but apparently it's only for practice mode?? Very odd. Also can't decide if I love this game or hate it. A lot of my time was spent trying to figure out where the hitbox is. The final boss is also an absolute troll

Night of grinding SDOJ runs resulted in 2 2ccs reaching the final boss, both with enough bombs to clear but I went for dumb dodges. Wasn't actually expecting to be close to clearing after 35hrs, so trying to take it as a positive despite kicking myself for choking

Realizing that dying on stage 4 midboss does not actually doom the run (as long as you get the extend) is a big confidence booster. My route has margin for 2 deaths before stage 5

So I wasn't imagining things when I thought these patterns were easier than the original

The forgiving hitboxes significantly decreases the danger of some of EoSD's most infamous, wall creating attacks, such as Emerald Megalith, Killing Doll, and basically all of Remilia - and enable some new strategies (clip from Jaimers: x.com/JaimersSTG/s...)
