Want to see what a full game of Microscope looks like, from start to finish? This is for you. I raaaarely record games for the public, but I am excited to show off the new edition of Microscope and this was a real treat.

Microscope is a game near and dear to my heart and I'm so happy to have had the opportunity to play the new edition with @lamemage.com himself www.youtube.com/watch?v=o1CL... rss vers: anchor.fm/s/f19dd798/p...

Here is my very belated #GoPlayNW 2026 wrap up thread! I had a terrific con this year. As always it was so much fun to reconnect with old friends and meet new friends too!

Continuing on the Marc train, I ran his game that's currently strolling confidently to the finish line of playtesting, Pottery Shards. I have perfected my pitch - if you like describing things and places, play Pottery Shards. (I love describing things and places)

We then revived a GPNW tradition, and ran My Daughter the Queen of France - the game where we play out a play about Shakespeare, in front of Shakespeare, about how much Mr. Shakes sucks. I think we had three soliloquies and three quits - so pretty good.

Then I ran a blast from the past, Metrofinál - a surreal game about bodhisattvas at the end of the world traveling the subway, looking for those who will remake the world. It's been burning a hole in my game bag for yeeeears, so it was nice to bring it back out and share the weirdness.

First game of the con was Sweet Thirteen - a playtest game of tweens having big feelings about low-stakes problems told in the style of a middle grade book series. It was very charming and funny! Daniel and Carla if you are on the internet - I hope you finish this game soon so I can play it again!

It's Monday, which means it's Story Game Night! Come join us tonight from 5pm-8pm in downtown Olympia, WA to play some story games as a community. We will meet at Altitude 15. We hope to see you there! #ttrpg #ttrpgcommunity #storygames #roleplayinggame #olympia

I have had an extremely harvest/cooking day. We made apple cider with garden apples, ice cream, cream cheese (super annoyed that I just now learned you can make cream cheese at home), and I'm now dehydrating garden plums and raspberries. 😮‍💨

Super fun session of Marc's current project, Pottery Shards, last night! You know it's good when your friend describes a piece of technology as "looking like the inside of a sliced tomato" and you viscerally recoil from the ick!

Some of my most treasured game experiences have been with Microscope. I'm very excited for the new edition!

I'm making it official: Microscope second edition is in the works. Crowdfunding in October. I swear on this stack of game books arsludi.lamemage.com/index.php/52...

The cycle continues: draft rules, "this will be great!", playtest, "this is terrible!", draft rules, "this will be great!" etc forever and ever 😂😭 (This time's different though! It will be great!)

Our This Means War game last night was hot hot hot! Spotlight rounds are a ton of fun - we all do scenes about one character, using simple secondary characters to great effect. Marc's patriotic professor mixed university politics with war politics and totally disillusion'ed his star pupil.

After Marc's character reported another professor for a slightly sympathetic, old essay about the enemy: "I think it was really rotten what you did to Professor Magine. And if that’s the way university is, I want nothing to do with it.” So fun!

We've been playing This Means War for a couple weeks now, and having a blast! (Not like a 'ha-ha' blast, but like a 'this is very dramatic and suspenseful and also I'm devastated that my farm boy character was killed' blast) You should check it out!

Also I'm very very impressed at how fast this went from a series of unhinged tables to something both playable and fun. Getting to watch Ben go from giant-brain-fever-idea to playable text is a treat!

Unboxing challenge: I'm looking for more GMless games that you can play together without any reading in advance. Games you can just pick up and follow the instructions cold Show me what you got!

Children are great because they can help you see things in a whole new way. Like how my 7yo just told me he thought Lord of the Rings is probably about Bilbo trying to get a bunch of rings.

After it had been sitting in our 'to play' pile for 13 years, we finally played Happy Birthday Robot! It was just waiting for us to have a kid, and for that kid to be ready to have the restraint to only make one butt joke 😊

My 7yo picked up a Downfall book and had a whole stream of consciousness about the title and the cover image. "Downfall. Woah, why is it in the sky? That seems like a bad idea. Pieces of it are falling off. Oh falling dowwwn. Down Fallllll. That is Not Safe. Why is it falling? Have you read it?" 😂

In our Downfall game last night we had the joy of getting to call for a consequence in the very first scene. Sure, the Hero can get that promotion she's been chasing, but oh no looks like Ms. Giant Wrench is getting leapfrogged out of engineering directly into a management job.

This made possible by the gift of playing with someone new to story games who has not yet learned to expect the antagonisms. The true reason to expand the hobby lol
