We finally have the first inhabitants of the new aquarium! 🥳 It‘s a group of similis corys! :) The sandy substrate was chosen specifically for them so they get to do some digging for food. I love this species, but they‘re still a bit shy. #fishkeeping #aquarium

As promised, I‘m revealing some of the fish for the new tank! … or so I thought but since I put them in the 180L, I realized they looked way too good in there to move again 😅 Anyways, this is the red eye yellow devil tetra (Hyphessobrycon notidanos) #fishkeeping #aquarium

So, I‘ve recently completely forgotten about my experimental 12L window sill tank and I have to say after finally doing another waterchange and getting the water actually clear, I‘m impressed how well it‘s doing. No filter, no light, apparently no problems. #aquarium #fishkeeping

After working on it for almost an entire week, I‘m happy to present you with an update on the new aquarium. Planting is getting close to being done. I also have some future inhabitants already in the other tanks for the time being. #aquarium #fishkeeping

Currently working on my next aquarium which will be the last setup for a while but my first opti-white tank. A gift to myself and here is a bit of the process as a sneak-peak before it‘s finished. #aquarium #fishkeeping

Handed in my PhD thesis today. I can finally go on holiday for a bit. To celebrate, here‘s an update of the 180L tank and the honey gouramis I bought some weeks back. All five are doing well so far #aquarium #fishkeeping #PhD

Will be taking a break from Bluesky for the next weeks to finish writing the thesis. In the meantime, have an update from the 180L tank. Can you spot something new? :D #fishkeeping #aquarium

Posts will be staying sporadic, but the green stripe cories are still a gift that keeps on giving. Some have really colored up with greenish-yellow fins but I have yet to get a good picture of that. Not a lot of time for that until the thesis is done. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Times are still stressful on my end, but I still enjoy my tanks. So here‘s an update from what my friend dubbed „the heart of the jungle“. I got some neon green rasboras. :) #fishkeeping #aquarium

Haven‘t posted an update for the 180L tank since the first post. So here is how it‘s going. Plant growth is good and I‘ve trimmed the Limnophila and Myriophyllum several times already. I‘m very happy so far. #fishkeeping #aquarium

I think you should show both your successes and mistakes. The cube I set up has taken very long and many almost daily waterchanges to clear up and for the water to stop smelling badly. I should‘ve pre-soaked the wood. Now I finally moved my Bloody Mary shrimp in. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Still on the process of setting up my aquariums in the ne apartment. Today, I finally set up the 30L tank. I‘ve had this piece of wood for years and have been waiting for a good moment to finally use it in a cube that fits it perfectly. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Another addition that happened kind of spontaneously was this absolutely stunning Apistogramma borrelli ‚Opal‘ that the breeder I got the corys from had as well. I‘m amazed by how quickly it can change its color! #fishkeeping #aquarium

The surprise I was promising you has arrived: I got myself a nice group of green stripe corydoras! I got them from a local breeder near me and I‘m so happy about these phenomenal fish! They‘re quite lively and a great addition to the 180L tank. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Finally settled in enough after the move to set up the 180L tank again. Enjoy the time series of the first few days. I‘m quite pleased with the scape so far. The fish will move back in in a few days and then I have some special inhabitants planned, so stay tuned! #fishkeeping #aquarium

Small update on the fish, since they are posing quite well in the temporary tank. The first one was sold to me as a Siamese algae eater but I can‘t find what species this is. And then I managed to get a good picture of one of my last two emperor tetras :) #fishkeeping #aquarium

Moving has been nearly completed and I‘ve taken all previous inhabitants of the 180L with me. They took the travel surprisingly well. No losses, all colored up nearly immediately in the temporary holding tank until the big tank is set up again. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Well, the move is still ongoing but I‘ve put together a 12L holding tank for the plants I saved in the progress. I wasn‘t ready to part with my Lagenandra meeboldi and Anubias Nana ‚pinto‘, among others. More Updates coming again soon. #aquarium #fishkeeping

Things have been stressful recently since I‘m moving countries and gave away my fishtanks. I‘ll get new ones in the new apartment but for now, let‘s review some remaining pictures of the past year. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Been a while, since I posted, so let me share with you a display my local pet store has set up for showing how nicely emersed aquarium plants can grow. #aquarium #fishkeeping

Today I came home kind of late into a dark apartment only lit by the lights of my aquariums. I really enjoy the atmosphere it created in my room and now you get to enjoy it, too! #fishkeeping #aquarium

Finally remembered to take before and after pictures for a maintenance session. So, here you go :D All of the Ludwigia stems have been replanted, they‘re just not visible from this perspective. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Been feeling quite sick the past few days but I managed to go for a walk yesterday. So here is a video of me feeding a local squirrel in the park. Not quite my usual Aquarium stuff but I‘ll be back to that, soon.

Got to do a big maintenance session on the 180L for the first time in a while. I keep forgetting to take „before“ pictures to show the difference. Let‘s just say I filled a 5L bucket to the brim with trimmings. #fishkeeping #aquarium

I have decided it’s time to appreciate kuhli loaches once again. Now that the front of my tank is no longer a vast jungle, they‘ve been wiggling through the Bucephalandra thicket more again. #aquarium #fishkeeping

Did a big trimming and maintenance session on the 72L. Removed some of the Helianthium bolivianum in the front because it got too large (see my hand for comparison). Replaced it with Eleocharis acicularis, which will hopefully be better. #fishkeeping #aquarium

It‘s been way too long since I posted, so here is my latest attempt to get a nice video of the emperor tetra tank. Needless to say, it was taken a bit late. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Update on my wabenmuster pleco female. She‘s been in quarantine for a few weeks and has finally started eating nicely about a week and a half ago. I also don‘t have to blanch her zucchinis anymore for her to feed on them. Getting better! ☺️ #fishkeeping #aquarium

I feel like it‘s time for an update on the tanks. The bigger 72L might need a trim for the Helianthium bolivianum but I enjoy the jungle-vibes it gives and so do my kuhli loaches 😁 #fishkeeping #aquarium

I‘ve been struggling recently with my female Wabenmuster pleco. She‘s been getting bullied by the male and got very thin. So today I almost completely disassembled the tank and put her into quarantine where she‘ll hopefully get back some strength munching on some zucchini 🤞 #fishkeeping #aquarium

Today it‘s time to appreciate the undersides of some of my pets. I got this neat shot of the underside of my kuhli loach, as well as seeing a berried shrimp with the eyes of the shrimplets already visible. I‘ve only seen that once before. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Let me share with you today some pictures of my favorite fish: the emperor tetra (Nematobrycon palmeri). I love the shimmer and blue eyes on the males as well as the green eyes on the females. As a bonus: a Siamese algae eater. All of them are fairly old already at 4-5 years.

Today was waterchange day for me. My white clouds and the shrimp are excited for some fresh new water! :) Also, as a bonus, a picture of a sneaky kuhli loach. #fishkeeping #aquarium

I haven’t shared much about the plants in my tanks yet, so here is the beautiful flower of one of my Bucephalandra kedagang, as well as some newly forming leaves of my Anubis nana var. ‚pinto‘.

Managed to get this nice shot of my golden white cloud and thought I‘d share. Active fish like that are really hard to take good pictures of. #fishkeeping #aquarium

Been a while since I had anything to post and things have been busy, but I just got done with a nice and big maintenance session, so I‘ll get some more pictures in, when the lights are back on.

It‘s not always easy to find your favorite fish in your tank, so today I have a kuhli loach in hiding and my rarely-visible ‚wabenmuster‘ ancistrus for you! Do your fish have any favorite hiding spaces? #fishkeeping #aquarium

I don‘t really impulse buy fish but I saw these gold white cloud mountain minnows on Saturday and couldn‘t resist them longer than until today. They instantly got along with my resident white clouds, which was nice to see. :) #aquarium #fishkeeping
