“You’re one of one. You’re unprecedented in the entire line of human history. Only you have your brain. Only you can think of what you can think of. Only you can tell a story in a particular way. Why would you cede that to a machine?” —Dave Eggers

My baby sister is getting married next week, and while I realize that she is fully old enough to legally purchase alcohol in the United States, she is also a child bride and much too young to be getting married

What I tried to message my advisor: "Hi Ross, I know you're busy this week, but I've got a question.." What I actually sent to my advisor: "Hi Ross, I know you" Fortunately Slack allows message editing 😵‍💫

I know the whole point of newspeak in 1984 is that limiting language also limits people's ability to express themselves and all that, and yet, "double plus ungood" really means something to me that I don't know how to express otherwise.

Hey man, did you want to come to Scarborough Fair? A few of us were getting a group together, I hear they've got some herbs or something? Also someone's ex is from there I think...no worries if not.

I'm very glad that my ocular migraines do not come with the excruciating pain typical of migraines, but boy are they annoying. Like my brain just decides to spaz out and now I can't see for the next 15-30 minutes

I'm sorry but I despise the concept of "girl math." The idea that not only can girls not do real or correct math, but also that the only thing girls would want to use math for is how much they can get away with spending on ✨shopping✨.

Lol, women be shopping! 🤪😜 if I return something for a refund I tell myself it's free money because I am just a dumb girl who forgot that this was money I spent to begin with 🤪 silly me, just a dumb girl 😂

Book I am now reading says that someone's clothing was "draped tight" and while I am still not a language expert, I'm pretty sure that phrase makes no sense (drape=loose. The dictionary said so).

Book I'm reading just used the phrase "a shocked sigh" and I'm not a language expert but I think the thing he was trying to describe is called a gasp
