2/2 I started seriously uploading to youtube in April with a goal of 10 videos. Yesterday I uploaded vid #18. Let's push it to 100, eff it we ball.

1/2 - I remember playing Mass Effect 2 for the first time. In between finishing ME1 and the release of 2 my 360 had gotten the RROD, so I booted the game assuming MY Shepard with all the choices and customization was gone for good.

2/2 Can't express how happy I was to find my Shep was safe and I could continue the journey (thanks cloud saves!). Played ME2 for like 5 hours straight that night. RIP Bioware

Playing pre-release copies of games is interesting because you truly get to evaluate them in a vacuum. There's no reviews, videos, or discourse to sway your opinion one way or the other. Refreshing!

It's a great year for gaming, but super great for Metroidvania fans. These are all just so friggin quality man. And the fact that they all dropped within a couple months of each other is 🀯

Finished Silver Pines. It's a solid 'B', really enjoyed my time with it - + Gorgeous art and animation + Cool mashup of my favorite genres (Metroidvania/Survival-horror) + Interesting story + Combat is generally cool - frustrating bosses with awkward item/weapon swapping

Crossed a couple milestones recently that Im proud of - uploaded YouTube vid #50 out of my 100. Half way there and while I feel like I've learned a ton, Im very much just scratching the surface. Ultimately just trying to get better talking about my favorite hobby.

2nd milestone - I asked a dev for a review code for an indie Metroidvania I've been looking forward to...and I got it! It's called Moadra and it leans pretty heavy on the 'Metroid' side of the vanias. Look out for a review on that around release on 10/22

Coffee and donuts are essential components to solving the mysteries of Silver Pines πŸŒ²β˜•οΈπŸ© P.S. This game has the juice 🀌

Played some Gears E-day with a friend last night and man, they really upped the horror element. Could feel the dread of the whole event, gave me TLOU opening vibes, I dig it

Despite having a couple beefy gaming rigs and a PC handheld, im slowly coming around to the idea of buying more indies on Switch 2. Most don't need the extra juice and the Switch is just tailor made for seamless couch and on the go gaming (aka dad gaming life)

I've had a handful of shorts 'break out' so far. The common denominator is that they all seem to bring in some amount of random ass negative comments, usually by trying to take a single word or phrase and twisting it way out of proportion. It's exhausting ngl

1/2 - Youtube monetization as a goal is 'dead' because after 49 videos i relaized I was looking at the whole thing wrong. I love games of all sizes. But indies have honestly been the main ones that continue to both feel nostalgic yet fresh at the same time.

2/2 And there's countless ones out there that seem to get little coverage and remain hidden - my goal is to shine a spotlight on them. Maybe YT monetization happens downstream, but chasing that ends up stifling the creativity and voice I wanted to get out in the first place.

Upload #49/100 went up yesterday. It's a short featuring End of Abyss, a cool sci fi metroidvania-ish indie I'd not heard about until the day before it came out. Just exemplifies why I love gaming (indie gaming in particular). They still have the ability to surprise you

Been at this content creation thing since April - had a few vids pop off with thousands of views, but most have fallen far short of that. One thing I can safely say - have a solid idea of what 'success' is. If you're only chasing views, buckle up for the emotional rollercoaster

It's a process, but im slowly coming around to the idea of trying to improve one thing with each video, reading analytics as best I can, then moving on to the next

Upload #39/100 - Nintendo dropped new details on the Ocarina of Time Remake (short). After the Zelda direct I was friggin hyped like a lot of people. I also wanted to experiment with making a short on breaking news. Between this and Ravenous Nintendo don't miss youtube.com/shorts/P1VJI...

By pure coincidence, this week I uploaded a youtube video with 7 minutes of Hornet parked on a peak of Mt. Fay, ambient soundtrack playing, and me yapping about how my content creation struggles made me think about dying to Karmelita over and over. Happy Anniversary SilkSong

Been playing a new zelda-like from desertcucco.bsky.social called Isle of Reveries that feels like a modern day GBC game. You copy/paste objects in the world to solve puzzles that actually make you use your brain cells. Great retro aesthetics. Big recommend. Couldn't help making my own custom box 🀣

Uploads #32 - 35 Been quiet here but pretty busy this past week with several long and short form vids. Got to experiment with more yapping style videos which feels great to put out honestly.
