Saint’s screen persona was not the blonde bombshell or glamour girl-type. Yo, don’t get me wrong, she was sexy as . . . all get out as the ‘Hitchcock blonde’ opposite Cary Grant in “North by Northwest.” In general l thought she had a casual sophistication, not a hard full-court press. #TCMParty

For her entire career as far as I could see: ( “Hatful of Rain”, “Raintree County”, “36 Hours”, “The Sandpiper”, “Grand Prix”, “The Stalking Moon”, “All Fall Down” etc. ) I found she would pare her character right down to their core with no theatrics or histrionics or embellishments.

Our mutual texting and immediate commiseration was comforting. EVA MARIE SAINT ushered in her long film career opposite that titan of actors ~ Brando ~ in “On the Waterfront.” I think he met his match with the quiet sincere truth of Eva Marie’s acting in that movie.

Imagine, right off the bat winning an Academy Award in her first movie. I mean really, where do you go from there when you win an Oscar your first film out? Well, you take on more and more interesting roles.
