Trump: "Ramaswamy put up a very powerful Ad about a mother saying that her daughter, Acton, is a liar, and much worse. The Press is trying to get him to 'take down the Ad.' Frankly, anybody whose mother spoke about daughter that way would normally lead to the daughter being precluded from serving"

"The coal plants would've had to close!" Yeah, man, that's the point. "The policy uncertainty!" Ypu know what is injecting policy uncertainty? A lawless President changing the policy!

All the takes I'm seeing that basically say "Hasan Piker is fine because the GOP is worse" are just indicating that they don't have a clue how US politics has worked for these past decades. Campaigning with Piker is just a stupid unforced error that no Dem should have made.

It's this sort of thing that makes me thankful to live in a blue state. The FL legislature is just evil for doing this. Existing law makes it hard to know your home is unsafe, new law makes it hard to sue the mining company that gave you cancer. insideclimatenews.org/news/1408202...

I like @canarymedia.com, but they missed the boat on this story. It seems pretty unlikely that this plant will ever get built, but there has never been a coherent environmental or public health case against it. First, MA has the most stringent air quality.... www.canarymedia.com/articles/ene...

There was concern that trees would be logged just for the power plants. None got built, so there is plenty of urban forestry wood (which will get cut regardless) that could feed this plant. Waste wood turns into CO2 whether it rots as mulch in a yard or if burned for electricity.

Almost 50% of New England's electricity is generated by fossil gas, and the path to 0% is slow and uncertain. The NE grid needs more dispatchable non-fossil power. This plant could be a piece of that puzzle. But it won't, because of NIMBY opposition that ignored the science.

Good on the MA Senate for pushing back on cuts to efficiency programs. The benefit of minor cuts to people's bills today is swamped by the downside of long-term higher energy spending that could have been moderated by efficiency. And everyone benefits from this. www.canarymedia.com/articles/ene...

Vineyard Wind is saving New England ratepayers money now, but we should remember that Trump delayed permitting by a year with a last-minute rug pull and then did his best to stop construction. And additional projects have been delayed or cancelled. electrek.co/2026/05/01/1...

Public acceptance for nuclear power in the US is predicated on the assurance that it is strictly regulated by experts. So the best way to reawaken the anti-nuclear movement (short of an accidental release) is to kill safety regs to build plants faster. "Be careful what you wish for."

NEW: To dramatically increase the amount of energy available to power artificial intelligence, the Trump administration is rewriting thousands of pages of nuclear power regulations while downplaying safety issues and focusing on industry incentives.
