Recently, our China team went to Egg Culture Festival - an event designed to help consumers learn more about eggs & farmed animal welfare. Through interactive public engagement activities, they helped bring hen welfare & cage-free farming into conversations with consumers.

The EU's Vision 2040 featured low-trophic aquaculture and animal welfare. But it supports growth in carnivorous fish farming, fails to tackle reliance on wild-caught fish feed, and offers no commitment to welfare legislation for farmed aquatic animals. Read our analysis: l1nq.com/lczfs3a

🐙💌 Commissioners Kadis & Varhelyi - you've got mail! 35 MEPs and over 160 NGOs and scientists have spoken out this #WorldOctopusDay, calling for an EU-wide ban on intensive octopus farming. The EU must act before this cruel industry takes hold. Read more: bit.ly/4y5C9BV @ciwf.eu

Today we were outside the @ec.europa.eu to represent the demands of 1.4m citizens, 170 NGOs, and 82% of surveyed farmers. Our message was simple: enough delays. It's time to #EndtheCageAge Tell the Commission you’re tired of waiting ⏰https://www.endthecageage.eu/en/it-s-time-to-end-the-cage-age/

What empties our oceans, starves local communities in the Global South, and traps migratory fish in underwater cages? Today we'll reveal the true impacts, and the hidden costs, of carnivorous aquaculture. #OceanWeek

Millions of fish are caught each year to feed carnivorous species farmed in underwater cages. This is bad for animals, marine ecosystems, & the people relying on them for food & livelihoods. Tomorrow, we'll dive into the negative impact of carnivorous aquaculture. #OceanWeek

No taxpayers' money for keeping ducks & geese in cages during the brutal force-feeding stage on foie gras farms. #AGRIFISH ministers must deliver a #CAP that supports farmers in a just transition - not one that locks animals in cages & society in a climate doom loop.

🧑‍⚖️Today, we issued a formal legal notice to Irish Ferries. We want to know why the company is transporting unweaned calves on its ships – when it is aware that this breaches EU law, as these vulnerable animals go unfed at the legally required times. Get involved 👇🔗

Around 32 million ducks & geese are farmed for foie gras in the EU. This brutal force-feeding practice must end along with their cruel confinement in cages. The @ec.europa.eu has committed to #EndTheCageAge by the end of the year. It must keep its promise🦆

🔎 NEW: 71% of farmers surveyed said going cage-free would have a positive impact on their wellbeing. ⏰ @ec.europa.eu has 10 days. Farmers agree it’s time to #EndTheCageAge ➡️https://www.ciwf.eu/media-and-news/press-releases/82-of-farmers-support-caged-farming-ban-as-eu-faces-deadline-to-act/

1.4 million citizens called for an end to cages. Today, we delivered an open letter backed by 280+ signatures from academics, industry stakeholders, farmers, veterinarians, lawyers, consumer & animal welfare organisations. @ec.europa.eu, keep your promise. #EndTheCageAge

Factory farming runs our land dry. It fuels the very environmental catastrophe that affects animals and farmers across Europe. The EU must transition to a kinder, better type of farming: one that works in harmony with nature, animals, and people.

They deserve compassion and not to become yet another species suffering in factory farms. Even though Nueva Pescanova dropped its plans to build the world's first octopus farm, we need an EU-wide ban on octopus farming. #KeepThemWild

In 2022, France was swept by heatwaves and wildfires, with temperatures exceeding 40°C. 750,000 chickens died from suffocation and exhaustion. 100 villages ran out of water. 30,000 hectares of forest burned. It doesn’t have to be this way.

They are often: 🐷 Confined in vast numbers with little space 💧 Left without enough water 🏭 Kept in poorly ventilated buildings and transport vehicles where temperatures can soar

Factory farming contributes significantly to climate change. And as temperatures rise, animals trapped in factory farms suffer even more. We’ve already seen the consequences.

Most dairy calves farmed in the EU spend their first weeks in small individual pens. Calves are social, curious animals – individual pens prevent them from playing & interacting with other calves, causing fear & frustration. The @ec.europa.eu must #EndTheCageAge

Billions of animals suffer each year while being transported, usually to other countries to be slaughtered. Enough is enough. As the EU works on updating its rules on #LiveTransport, we have a rare chance to improve animal welfare in this problematic sector. Use your voice 👇

Top 3 reasons to end factory farming: 1⃣ it's the biggest single cause of animal suffering on the planet 2⃣ it drives deforestation, pollutes our rivers, & emits huge amounts of greenhouse gases 3⃣ it boosts the spread of diseases by forcing animals to live in cramped spaces
