Today, Maureen Comey won her case on her illegal firing. Also today, Trump's DOJ indicted James Comey for the 3rd time! Between nonsense like this & his refusal to release the rest of the Epstein files, Todd Blanche does is go on Sun. news shows and answer reporters' Qs w/lies, lies & more lies.

You know, I have to say Aaron Parnas is my go-to Substack/YouTube political commentator. He broadcasts more than once a day, and as far as I can tell, breaks some of the most important stories about the administration's plans & actions. He has sources no other commentator seems to have.

I've read David Pakman's new book, "Pay Attention," in which he tells us how & why political news & commentary is so fragmented, extreme & divisive in a self-fulfilling, self-feeding media environment. We are not free when the algorithim knows anger, drama & shocking "thumbnails" deliver the clicks.

Trump plans to discourage voting at the polls on election day. I just called my 2 IN senators to urge them to vote yes on Dem-proposed legislation that calls for prohibiting armed military & federal agents from terrorizing polling places: the Protect Our Polls Act & the Safe Access to the Polls Act.

You know, in the aftermath of Steve Witkoff calling Putin a "humanitarian," I thought of brave Alex Navalney and all he suffered and died trying to bring freedom and democracy to Russia. Putin gave the order, I am sure, to have him killed. And today, America calls him a "humanitarian." So digusting.

This morning, I am really pissed. I cannot believe that nowhere on the NYT front page (and maybe in the entire paper) is there any reference to the massive crowds at No Kings Day yesterday! The lead story with video is on the French protests! What gives?

Here’s what to know. www.nytimes.com/live/2026/10... It never ends, does it? Although it could easily end if our "representatives" in Congress did something about access to guns. I don't know how a parent survives the worst thing that would ever happen to them.

Are the schemers & planners & authors of Project 2025 surprised by how things have unfolded? Did they count on protests, lawsuits & push-back? Did they count on Trump doing what everyone hates-violent ICE arrests, tearing down the East wing & starting a war he can neither explain nor end? I wonder.

Timothy Snyder, historian & author, was on Steve Schmidt's "The Warning" the other day & said something insightful abt. the Republican party having to rebuild itself after Trump - that they'll have to re-learn self-respect & dignity b/c they've become a cult of self-abasement & self-humiliation.

I listen to/watch many Substacks, but can't catch them all and some seem like echo chambers of the others. I like these best b/c their reporting is interesting and new: Aaron Parnas, Steve Schmidt, Andrew Weissmann, Katie Phang, Robert Reich, Terry Moran & of course, Heather Cox Richardson.

Bobby Kennedy supported the death penalty as Atty. Gen., but changed his position later on. Asked why, he replied, "That was before I read Camus." Camus' father witnessed the public execution of a murderer & said the brutal reality of official execution mirrored the horror of the original crime.

I just listened to Steve Schmidt interview Timothy Snyder on a variety of topics relating to Trump, fascism, the upcoming elections and more. It was a very thoughtful conversation, with a lot of hope also. Snyder is the author of two important books, " On Freedom," and "On Tyranny."

nytimes.comFort Hood Shooter’s Execution Will be Public and Streamed Live, Pentagon Says (Gift Article)If carried out, the public execution of Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan by firing squad set for Dec. 3 would be the first in modern U.S. history.

Saw Hegseth on the news boasting abt. the firing squad execution he plans at Ft. Hood & inviting the public to watch. He's a callous, stupid pig. I can't wait for the day he's thrown out of office & an intelligent, seasoned, compassionate & responsible person takes his role.

Just finished Malcolm Gladwell's "The American Way of Killing," a fascinating look at how America differs from other 1st world countries in gun control, no. of police, arrests & punishment. Surprisingly, Gladwell argues America does not have too many police officers, but too few. A great read!

October is Suicide Prevention Month. Stats from Everytown for Gun Safety: "Most people who die from suicide use a gun. In fact, six out of every ten gun deaths in the United States are from suicide, totaling nearly 27,000 deaths in the U.S. every year." Hope Dems propose an assault rifle ban.

I am really looking forward to this movie, which opens Nov. 6, about the life of Jimmy Stewart - how when he returned from fighting in WWII, he was at a low point in his life, and making "It's a Wonderful Life," really did save him.
