PLUS, as Disabled activism is such a driving force for change in the culture sector, we have added an online stream for those with limited mobility or energy who can’t get to Bristol for the event. Handful of tix left for Watershed. Full schedule and details of online tickets are on the website.

I am planning an event @wshed.bsky.social for the culture sector around our collective role in building togetherness to combat the rise of the far right. I am talking with Hope not Hate and imagining a mix of talk and workshop covering. Is this something you would be interested to attend?

Thinking it will cover topics like - • Resilience building • Tackling misinformation • Your legal position as a charity • Making and sharing art that addresses these themes • How to hold difficult conversations What else should we cover?

We have an amazing 1, 500 signatures from people and organisations at all scales across the UK. Just 24 hours left to go - please sign and share if you can.

Our CEO Clare Reddington has worked with trans activists to create an open letter to the Equality and Human Rights Commission from the Culture Sector, in solidarity with Trans, Nonbinary and Intersex communities. (1/2)

I appreciate you coming to chat with me, for making your views really clear, listening and continuing to disagree with me. Let’s keep talking.

I've spoken to Clare in person. She's clearly very upset, and feels put in an impossible situation, and I appreciate her willingness to talk. However I still completely disagree with the decision to go ahead with this event, and I believe her reading of their legal obligations is incorrect.

When the dust settles I’ll have a think about how we might stage an event to discuss how cultural organisations can contribute to democracy in a time of political extremism. We also dont plan to host any hustings in the near future.

Democracy is not served by cancelling people you disagree with. Beat them with your arguments, positive policies and..for those politically motivated…your hard work getting the message out. Bear in mind some candidates will be less than happy walking up those 🏳️‍🌈🏳️‍⚧️ stairs and with an award winning 🚾 🤭

Here is a piece from our CEO @clarered.bsky.social on the WECA Mayoral Transport Hustings taking place today. In it Clare shares some context in response to public feedback (some are angry we haven't cancelled the event, others have expressed support). www.watershed.co.uk/articles/not...

Five things you might not know about PIP and a thread. 1) PIP is not a ‘benefit’ of disability, it’s welfare support to cover the additional costs of living with chronic illness or disability - medicine, transport, therapy, specialist equipment (and no, not all of these are available on the NHS)

So proud of RSC and Sarah Ellis for launching Lili today, a Macbeth-inspired video game made by New York-based iNK Stories. The RSC's first ever video game, Lili is a trailblazing vision set in contemporary Iran with Shakespeare’s Lady Macbeth at the centre. www.rsc.org.uk/news/macbeth...

Here's a personal blog post on the taboo and complexity of vaccine injury — fighting to become a human data point. Tricky to talk about without people either assuming you've lost the plot or co-opting you into their conspiracy theories. Wish me luck. 😉 imaginaryastronaut.xyz/notebook/202...

Normally when I say vaccine injury, people look at me like I'm a deluded conspiracy theorist and along side everything else, that hurts. This week it’s at the centre of the covid inquiry so I shared some thoughts from a fully-vaccinated, injury-adjacent perspective. www.linkedin.com/posts/clarer...

Having watched the brilliant Nickel Boys yesterday @wshed.bsky.social i am left thinking about how much has not changed. Yesterday i read that inmates make up 1/3 of California's fire fighting force and face considerable higher danger and injury levels than their professional counter parts.

We are planning some changes to our open plan offices and we need some areas for zoom calls and for quiet, focus. We cant really afford fancy pods - what are you using? What have you seen that works? Thinking seriously about garden sheds LOL.

People running venues / buildings - what’s signs or things have really worked for you to stop people flushing random stuff down your toilets? Our Victorian pipe work gets blocked easily and it’s NOT COOL. HELLLLLLP

Thank god. Was worried this would still be on X.

1/ So, where were we? Oh yep, #duvetknowitschristmas. Firstly, some admin: Twitter/X has evidently been run into the ground by a preening, self-radicalised clot, so while there's a slim possibility that this annual celebration might be thriving over there, I won't know cos I won't be looking.

Back in the ruined place I used to do a regular post called Best Thing On The Worldwide Web. I got to number 680 odd before I left. This video has made me want to start it again.
