A couple seeming to have a photoshoot on my doorstep tonight. Posing, taking each other's photos. Didn't say a word to me when I shooed them out my way, but did try to open the door I'd very firmly closed behind me. Weird. If they had just bought or moved in, you'd think they would say something.

At the risk of being parodically middle class, I really like that Waitrose seems to hire delivery men (so far always men) who are nice and pleasant. Today's grocery delivery was a delight. I guess maybe they allow them more time to make deliveries than others?

To be very clear, I'm not saying this is the best bit of visiting my parents But when I visited my parents, neighbourhood cat Hetty came to see me and she hasn't for a while and I love her so very much

Took my whole family to see Daniel Kitson in Lincoln this evening. Kitson got briefly derailed by the size of my brother's arms, and the group all liked the show, which is good, because I can't be finding a new family at this point in my life.

Door: Bzzzz Me: hello They: are you able to take a delivery? Me: who for? They: They: Me: hello? Who for? They: Me: fuck's sake

Fully body jump as the right-now buskers started up. LOUD! Brass band in the square. Playing Weak, by Skunk Anansi, though. Tune.

At least 3 trombones, a Sousaphone (of all things!), and much many saxophones, plus a couple of drums. No wonder they are loud They are wearing robes

Did I forget to put that in the fridge when I tidied away the rest of my grocery shopping earlier, or, did I save myself the effirt of thinking by forcing the decision of what to have for my dinner? Who can say? Anyway, pizza for tea.

Good news for me: a bunch of colleagues in new office having a chat about how awful genAI is. Haters! My people!

Please be vigilant. Help them out as quickly as possible as if they get exhausted and perish that is a potential colony that will not get to exist next year. Time trapped is time not foraging and energy wasted! So now you know what these big autumn-flying #bumblebees are! 13/15 #nature #bees

Went to the Strongman today, and there are also Strongwomen. Same events, same kit, same prizes (lower weights). OMG these women! Rachel did a 230kg deadlift for the first time in her life, then did 2 more!

Everyone is hung up on the address bit, but I think it's very important that we remember *someone* does need to have the "transistor thinker" knowledge/skills. Not everyone can be looking only at the big picture all the time.

Ezra Klein asked Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang about AI making kids worse at math and reading. Huang’s reply: “Does it matter?” Then he said he doesn’t know his own address or phone number. “We’re going to lose some fine intellectual dexterity.” www.nytimes.com/2026/09/23/o...

Why would Prime think that, having watched episode 12 yesterday, when I select "keep watching", I would want to start with episode 12?

Oh good, migraine aura while I'm trying to do Disclosure Scotland for my new job. Proving I'm not a wrong'un while working entirely in peripheral vision

Home from the pub, dry off from the rain, remember a) there's a cupcake to eat b) there's a Taskmaster to watch c) there's no need to get up early tomorrow

I've said it before, but it remains true. It's great going to the pub with a bunch of pals. Plus, we made an extra plan to go to the movies tomorrow as I have been spreading the word about Coyote vs Acme

I shall be starting Taskmaster late this evening because I need to go to the shop for my little treats. I was going to go earlier, but the chatty neighbour could be heard in the hallway, and I couldn't face the small talk. She wants to be my friend. She keeps bringing me cheese. She can't be stopped

Tourists Close The Door Challenge I don't care that you'll be "good for 8-10 hours". I don't care if you have a shower now, nor if you go to Starbucks round the corner first. Just shut the damn door and stop hollering outside my flat.

I am 6' tall. I am not slight of frame. I am wearing a chartruese dress that goes from my neck to my wrists and past my knees. And yet, invisible! I know this, because of the number of people who walked into me today.

'Tis a terrible thing when the delivery men make me do the exercise I keep saying I'll do anyway, and drop things at the bottom of the stairs, forcing me to climb all 4 flights for no other purpose

Am quick to grumble about chatbots, so in the spirit of fairness, Oura's version just gave a very good solution to my problem with no fuss. Ring (>2years old) stopped charging, they looked at the diagnostics, and are sending me a new ring to replace it.
