Switched back over to my Forests of Sumatra project! I needed a change, and I forgot how much I enjoy working with Soie d'Alger floss. I also didn't realize how close I am to being done! #crossstitch #embroidery

I think this is my 6th or 7th skein finished? Either way, I'm excited to start a new one! Also, I don't remember who makes this bobbin, but it's cattle bone and I got it at Lacis Lace Museum down in Berkeley, CA. It's a great place if you're in the area! #crossstitch #embroidery

Finally started a sail! I always say it, but I cannot wait to see what this looks like completed. ☆Pattern is The Big Red Ship of Life by Ink Circles☆ #crossstitch #embroidery

Our poor PNW, man. And I really am so devastated for Spokane. Having three wildfires surrounding your city (with one of them already reaching the suburbs) is a harrowing experience, and I hope they're all fully contained soon.

Discovered a grey spot on my project, and I was immediately ill. I was able to get it out, but I was absolutely falling apart while I waited to see if it worked. The issue is that I had to use water, and I was worried the thread would bleed 😭 Blessed that it didn't 🙇🏻🙇🏻🙇🏻 #crossstitch #embroidery

Someone said the organ was a version of the piano, and I couldn't stop myself from correcting them, bc they aren't even in the same family. One is a percussive string instrument (the piano), and the other is a wind instrument (the organ). Also, the organ is ≈2,000 years older than the piano. --

-- The piano is, essentially, little padded hammers hitting a string, which is why it's classified as a percussive string. The organ, however, has multiple stacked keyboards up top, up to 30,000 pipes, and about 40 foot pedals (picture). It's the most complex instrument that humans have ever made 🙂‍↕️

Forever thinking about that time I walked into the living room after being in the kitchen, and I saw my ($40) ball of yarn hanging off the coffee table - noticeably not connected to my project because my cat had chewed through it 😭 I literally dropped to my knees and said "what have you done??"

My 15-20 year old plastic spatula has seen it all, including me stealing her from my parents when I moved out. Unfortunately, she met her match against mostly thawed ground bison, and sadly, it was a resounding defeat. She snapped in half within 7 seconds. A moment of silence 😔

A cross-stitch designer was upset because her pattern was straight-up stolen, but the issue was that her design was of Pokemon characters, which are trademarked designs that you cannot sell without a license. It's considered fan art, and it's illegal to sell. I felt bad but the law is the law 😭😭 -

Trademark laws, intellectual property laws, and copyright are all things that cross-stitch designers need to be hyper aware of. If you want to design your own Pokemon and sell that, I think that's fine legally (heavy on "I think"). But to straight-up draw Pokemon characters and sell it is illegal. -

In my opinion, she should do and say absolutely nothing. Making a fuss will only bring attention to her etsy shop, which is 90% trademarked content. All she'll do is put a target on her own shop, unfortunately.

And to be clear, it WAS stolen. It was the exact same pattern. If she had a license to sell it, she could probably have a chance at getting the stolen one taken down. But because she's illegally selling what Pokemon considers a derivative of fan art, she should say and do nothing, which does suck. -

Unfortunately, I don't think this blanket is going to be a functional size when I'm done with the pattern, so this has officially moved into the decór category. I have less than 40 rows left, and it's currently only 26.5" 😭😭 #crochet

My family heirloom that my dad stole from his grandmothers old front yard in the middle of the night :'-) In his defense, those people ripped up everything his grandmother planted. They kept the yucca, so my dad took a clipping like a 2am plant burglar 😭

I talk about her all the time, but this pattern really is my pride and joy :'-) It's fun to stitch and fun to look at. What more could I ask for? #embroidery #blackworkembroidery #blackwork

Someone tried saying Casey Anthony was the face of the pro-choice movement, but we do NOT claim that creature. She did choose. She chose to have her daughter and keep her daughter. After that, your options are to raise the child or surrender your parental rights. Killing a toddler is not pro-choice.

A little over halfway done with my third ball of yarn, and halfway through my rounds! I have four more balls, so hopefully I have enough. Worst case scenario, I cut the blanket short. No big deal! ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ #crochet

Went to go get more balls of yarn for my blanket, and I was like "I don't need it to be the same dye lot, bc I'm pretty sure the whole thing is already at my house" and they literally had three more in the same lot. Three cheers! 💃🏻🎉

I saw the cutest snail yesterday! If you've never just sat & watched one, I suggest it. They're such entertaining animals! The way their shell wobbles back and forth, their eyes, their little face,,, it's all too adorable. Hanging out in the front at night was always my favorite bc of them :'-)

Gave my parents cat her morning meds (she has kidney issues), and she dug her claws so deep into my hand, somehow missing all my nerves and veins/arteries. I didn't bleed, but I did have a hole in my skin 😔 She hates her meds, but they keep her alive, so she is SOL - Shit Outta Luck 🤷🏻🤷🏻

I think this is a Mountain Bluebird, but I could be wrong (she didn't show me much of herself). Either way, a bluebird in a dogwood was a pretty way to start my day of errands 💙🤍💚

My mom woke me up way too early this morning with a phone call, and I know she felt bad about it because she left me a corner brownie (her favorite) and an entire bag of Rainier cherries (also her favorite) for when I came by to take care of the dogs (what she called about that could've been a text)

A picture in better lighting! I feel like you can see the texture better here. I also feel like this pattern should have been made in one color, because it showcases the stitches better. If my friends don't like this blanket, I'm absolutely keeping it for myself 🙂‍↕️ #crochet

Finally looking like a square! Thankfully, the pattern doesn't have too many boring consecutive boring rows. If it was just straight-up sc, I would have lost steam ages ago. I'm really liking how it's coming out. I think it looks way different in one color compared to what it calls for. #crochet
