“I know the limits of international law but I still believe in peaceful means of conflict resolution and prevention. So I want to make the system work, but I know that it will take a longer time than normal to fix it – and meanwhile, many more people will die.” UN rapporteur Francesca Albanese

“Paris is developing a forward deterrence strategy that would involve deploying French Rafale fighter jets carrying nuclear weapons to various European countries.“ Europe needs a program of de-escalation & trust building exercises Instead European politicians engage in nuclear escalation

When I was a young international politics under grad the use of nuclear weapons was for deterrence. The use if nuclear weapons was unthinkable In the last two years I have heard politicians and militarists discuss the use of nuclear weapons more than in the previous 30 yrs We need to descalate

Every day media or politicians are preparing the people for a war with Russia Let me make this clear, regardless of whether you hate Putin or not, a war with Russia will not end well

What's the government doing about it then? Why does it fall on individuals? Seems suspiciously like scaremongering.

60 years ago today 144 people died in the Welsh village of Aberfan when a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto them. 109 of those were children attending the village school. A tragedy that broke hearts, which remain broken now. The strength and courage shown by that community is an example to us all.

Sunday’s election will determine Brazil's, L. America's & the Amazon rainforest's fate. In a sane world, the world would have united against Trump's & Zuckerberg’s escalating efforts to bring Bolsonaro back to power. This world looks the other way. progressive.international/wire/2026-10...

Why indeed?

Why are contracts, especially those with the #genocidal company #Palantir, allowed to go through without tendrs being put out, evaluated and then awarded? This is #corruption. Plain and simple and #wesstreeting is at the centre again.

Sixty years ago today, the #Welsh village of #Aberfan saw disaster. The coal colliery spoil tip above, slid down the hill onto the school buildings. 116 children & 28 adults died. Neither the NCB nor any of its employees or board members faced criminal charges, prosecution, demotion or dismissal.

It does indeed

The Scales ⚖️@shakethescales.bsky.social

As Health Secretary, Wes Streeting took over £370,000 in political donations from private health & corporate-linked sources (including Palantir) & opened the NHS to further privatisation. As Defence Secretary, he gave Palantir a £240m defence contract with no competition. It stinks, doesn't it...?

We have just experienced our hottest summer on record. It is unfathomable that the government would approve another gas field in the midst of a climate emergency. The government has put the profits of fossil fuel giants over the future of our children. Beyond shameful (Jeremy Corbyn)

Today's decision by Labour to approve new drilling in the North Sea is climate vandalism. It's a betrayal of all of our futures, and Labour has abandoned all credibility in the fight against climate change. This is a victory for Shell over the people. www.bbc.co.uk/news/live/cw...

When they had to choose between opposing endless military occupation of Palestine by Israel and Zionism, the Western 'moderates' chose Zionism. And so it should be no surprise that having to choose between opposing genocide by Israel and protecting Zionism, the Western 'moderates' choose Zionism.

The Great & the Good will today gather in Aberfan to remember this disaster The good people of Aberfan had to fight 30 years for compensation by which time many had died

Today I remember the victims of the Aberfan disaster & the loss of so many lives & many so young I remember their grief, devastation & struggle for compensation. I remember the dismissive attitude to them from government I remember the similar experiences of the people of Hillsborough & Grenfell

Is not truth of these deployments, that the RAF is protecting the interests of British Fossil Fuel corporations? If so should not these Fossil Fuel corporations pay for this protection?

So, as suspected, days after the Holborn election Labour announces drilling on the Jackdaw gas field How long will the Burnham Bounce last with this cynical politics?

If he did bring TW back into public ownership it’d signify a rejection of the privatisation agenda of the last +40 years. It’d be the start of a slippery slope with ppl sensing blood and rightly demanding more renationalisation. Its an unthinkable horror scenario for the neoliberal consensus
