#BlueSky newbie here -- moving over from the site formerly known as Twitter, and possibly Threads too. Writing new e-book on #climate -- want to advocate for better policy and solutions. Also a speaker and writer on tech and productivity topics. #Introduction

Can you imagine what this world would be if all the money spent building out AI and data centers was instead directed to mitigating #climate change? Millions if not billions of jobs created globally in design, installation, and maintenance of new systems,

energy security for the countries that adopt (no need for outside energy imports), end of the fossil fuel overlords, end of "oil wars"/far less military spending, almost no risk of the rise of "self intelligence" that can end us all? Oh, and a future too. Not just for us -- all species.

I'm pretty sure The Cuck is suppressing liberal, progressive, and opposition voices on his supposedly "left of center" social media response to what was formerly Twitter. Why are these mega billionaires so willing to bend over for a disgusting rancid excuse of a man? They could end him.

What (actually who) I immediately think of when I hear Grump wants to rename Lake Ontario to Lake America. How about we just rename our country Moronica? (And how did we elect Biff ... twice?)

Underappreciated: US farmland *already substantially produces energy, not food*, and does so very inefficiently. Corn ethanol (~40% of all US corn) requires about 100 times more land per vehicle-mile driven than solar photovoltaics -> electric vehicles. Shifting corn to solar *would free up land*.

anytime people raise concerns about land use for solar projects or anything like that i just want to point out that half the corn we grow in this country gets used to make gasoline slightly worse

I looked this up yesterday: the North American Boreal #Forest has 277 BILLION #trees. Might not have been wise to warm up and dry out the atmosphere where there are 277 BILLION trees (polar and near polar regions have warmed much faster than rest of planet.)

Warmer at high latitudes also means more thunderstorms, and if those are "dry" thunderstorms (precipitation doesn't make it to the ground), the lightning creates even more fires. We really need to end our addiction to fossil fuels before it ends us.

The muskrat's obstinance and his political "distractions" may have cost #Tesla the robotaxi market. Waymo and others are now so far ahead with LIDAR and radar as part of the standard setup. We'll see if correct. Regardless, be informed. You couldn't pay me to get in a camera-only FSD Tesla vehicle.

And if you live in #Europe (The #Netherlands especially), make sure they are aware of this investigation. They may be about to approve the system -- that shouldn't happen IMHO. If approved, rest of #EU will be on the clock to do so also. Make noise and make sure they look into this specific risk.

Here's my "radical" (common sense) idea: for every dollar invested in AI build out/infrastructure, another dollar should be spent on climate mitigation/environmental protection. Frankly, anyplace they put in a data center, they should install solar/battery on any home or business ...

#alternativeenergy Ya' know, just putting this out there: If we switched to a solar/wind/hydro/wave/geothermal energy system with battery backup (these are all technologies we have now, with battery tech rapidly increasing in storage capacity with decreasing costs), ...

... that have installed themselves as brutal dictators in oil-rich countries (count the U.S. in that list now), using the profits from oil to make more wars. Oh, and if you had home #solar with battery backup (or just an EV w/ bidirectional charging), you'd never lose power if the grid goes down.

We could do this. We could create millions of good middle class #jobs to build this. We could step back from being the big bully and instead have our military be here to truly defend the homeland. We could stop enriching the warlords and fat cats, and invest in us instead. Why don't we do this???

#alternativeenergy Ya' know, just putting this out there: If we switched to a solar/wind/hydro/wave/geothermal energy system with battery backup (these are all technologies we have now, with battery tech rapidly increasing in storage capacity with decreasing costs), ...

... we wouldn't have to fight all of these damn wars for big oil companies and the corrupt politicians that support them. And, the air would be cleaner, the #climate crisis would slow, and we could shift investment from "guns" to "butter". Oh, and we'd also stop "feeding the pig", these despots ...

Hi Everyone! I will admit I've gone pretty quiet here on BlueSky. I've been VERY active on Threads @deanrand trying to "rally the troops" to do whatever they can to stop the fall into fascism here in the U.S. I hope to reengage more deeply on climate matters once we get through this (if we do.)

Take care of yourself, keep fighting for a better climate future, do what you can to stop Grump & Putin. Every little bit of effort helps. Please use the 5calls.org app to bother the hell out of your Reps and Senators. If they are Rs, talk about Epstein and war crimes. Speak now while you still can.

Here’s my ridiculous idea: people and countries can only use #ArtificialIntelligence that is net neutral on climate. If we had any brains at all, there would be a global agreement on this. (But alas, the billionaires won’t like this idea at all.)

AI, along with damn near everything else, could be run on solar, wind, wave/tidal, hydro, or geothermal with battery backups. We could fundamentally change our carbon footprint right now if greedy billionaires (and their bought politicians) didn't keep us going on a dead end path. Literally.

The big question: will the massive use of AI, much powered by fossil fuels, accelerate #climatechange even more? Which could literally put us on a path of economic collapse if not extinction. It is wild these two things are happening simultaneously.

IMHO, the camera-only system simply cannot work in all expected driving conditions and situations. I don't know how you can write code that can fix "system cannot see -- heavy rain (or fog, or snow, or direct sunlight, or glare)".

LIDAR and radar should be standard. Camera only should only be allowed with active human supervision (meaning, a human driver.) And that kills the economics of what he's been selling. (Plus, he has to know the real data from internal testing, and the number of issues with a camera-only system.)

Most likely outcome of #AI development -- far more of us get poorer with a few of us getting far richer. Governments around the world should be looking hard at how this tech benefits/hurts their citizens and setting guidelines/procedures/limits as of yesterday. #Artificialintelligence

And the #climate impact should not be understated: huge energy and fresh water needs. Also needs to be managed/controlled. We don't have time to let this run wild for 20 years. We don't have 5 years to let it run wild.

Pre-market #Tesla stock up $7 after announcing huge $29 billion stock compensation gift to the muskrat. I would argue this is horribly bad news for the company -- it needs to remove the muskrat infestation rather than entrench it: www.tipranks.com/news/tesla-s...

tipranks.comTesla Stock (TSLA) Jumps on New Elon Musk Pay Package - TipRanks.comTesla stock was up on Monday after the EV company announced a new pay package for founder and CEO Elon Musk.

There is only one reason you would vote to seal the #Epstein files, and it sure as hell isn't to protect the interest and safety of the citizens. We truly cannot allow the United States to become a government "by the pedophile, for the pedophile."

If we as a species had any brains, we'd put a global moratorium on AI development until we have a plan to do it in a way that doesn't require the use of any fossil fuels to power it, due to the risks of further accelerating the climate crisis. But, we as a species don't have any brains.

I'm not "anti-AI' by default (I am definitely a bit concerned!), but I'm very much anything anti- #climate remediation. But #AI is going to need so much power generation and right now, it seems like many of the players are defaulting to fossil fuel options instead of clean energy ones.

Big aBomination of a Bill means #Tesla = Toast. Unless the muskrat finds some way to get this bill to not get scuttled in the House and get signed, he basically loses the #EV tax credit starting in September. With all of the other damage he's done to the brand, would be final nail in the coffin.

Hard not to see the bill getting passed at this point. No one has shown courage in the GOP. Will be devastating to lower income Americans, to the U.S. government's financial standing, and to the climate in the long run. FAFO. But megawealthy will be able to buy bigger yachts.

Finished #Andor Season 1 and started Season 2. Understanding the hype already. Can't wait to see how this rolls into Rogue One. Powerful cast. Great story (and very relevant for these times). There is a New Hope for the #StarWars franchise - hope they keep making more content like this!
