Monday 26th October My first walk since Thursday and it felt good to get out even if the weather was miserable. I took it steady and i'm pleased to say there were no problems with either my knee or ankle. These were the only notables from said walk. #invertebrates #fungifriends

My right knee & right ankle have been giving me jip over the last couple of weeks and both have progressively got worse over the last few days so i've opted to take a few days rest. Anyway, here are some #streetart #murals pics i took earlier in the year to brighten things up a wee bit.

Thursday 22nd October A beautiful morning but nothing really special to show for it. The only notables were my first Fieldfares of the season with 5 birds E over Hamiltonhill Claypits and 2 Kingfishers along the F&C Canal. The only pic i managed was this Common Gull at Firhill Stadium.

Tuesday 20th October Overcast & 12° warmer than yesterday morning, so i was hoping for some moths. Surprised to find only one but it was better than none at all. November Moth agg 'Epirrita sp' (Lambhill Stables) #teammoth

Saturday 17th October Out at first light at the east end of my patch and despite the frosty conditions Chiffchaffs continue to sing, with singles at Hamiltonhill Claypits & Cowcaddens. These were the only pics i got from the morning ; #glasgow

Friday 16th October Finished my morning walk off with 3 #foxes All of which were on the far bank of the canal and were difficult to spot with the naked eye. Much easier to see when you zoom in with the camera.

Friday 16th October The star find of my walk back from Clydebank was this tenanted 4mm larval case of a Coleophora sp on Hazel, at Temple, East Dunbartonshire. There are several Coleophora to be found on this host and i'm not sure of the id. #teammoth

Friday 16th October Not as many #birds as i had hoped for on my walk back along the F&C Canal from Clydebank, with the only notables being ; 3 'singing' Chiffchaff 2 Kingfisher 2 Little Grebe (1 pictured below)

Wednesday 14th October Finished my early morning walk at Kelvingrove Park where i found several tenanted leafmines of Phyllonorycter emberizaepenella on Himalayan Honeysuckle. Collected a few to rear through. #teammoth

Monday 12th October I've lost count how many Dog Rose shrubs i've looked at this year in the hope of finding a early stage Coleophora gryphipennella and at the end of my morning walk i finally got lucky on a roadside verge by Asda, Summerston. #teammoth

Monday 12th October Timed it well to set off on my walk this morning and managed to capture this fiery sky behind Stockingfield Bridge. It was there that i had my first Redwings of the season with birds passing over heading SW and a 'late' singing chiffchaff along the F&C Canal.

Friday 9th October Phyllonorycter geniculella : tenanted leafmine on Sycamore (F&C Canal, Maryhill) I've neglected this family of leafminers this year due to rearing a whole host of other moth caterpillars but that'll all change next year. #teammoth

Thursday 8th October Not the most exciting photo but it's the first #fox i've seen for several months (F&C Canal) Sightings should start to pick up now with numbers peaking through the winter months.

Thursday 8th October Another calm, cold & clear morning and i was hoping for some Pink-footed Geese & or Redwing. Not a sniff of either but i did point my camera at a couple of commoner #birds on my walk back from Clydebank.

Tuesday 6th October First finds from my early morning walk were these vacated Stigmella sp leafmines on Rose. Found them along the Clyde Expressway, Whiteinch. I've yet to find any tenanted ones. Maybe next year 🤞 #teammoth

Sunday 4th October My 2nd Birch Sawfly 'Cimbex femoratus' larva of the year and the first one i've seen in Lanarkshire. I found it on the underside of a Birch leaf on Lochburn Rd, Hillend. #sawflies #invertebrates

Thursday 1st October A nice find at Glasgow Western Necropolis and perfect timing. Stigmella salicis : tenanted leafmine on Eared Sallow. Collected for rearing. Checked on it early evening to find the caterpillar had exited the mine and had started to make its cocoon. #teammoth

Monday 28th July Nice to see these again after not finding them in the usual place for the last 2 years. Beech Jellydisc 'Neobulgaria pura' : on a felled/fallen Beech tree (Dawsholm Park) #fungifriends

Monday 28th September A nice surprise this morning. I was moving some grass from around a clump of Stump Puffballs when this came crawling out and judging by the fresh condition it must have just emerged. Yellow-line Quaker 'Leptologia macilenta' (Dawsholm Park) #teammoth

Sunday 27th September There's been a Garden Spider 'Araneus diadematus' on the outside of our kitchen window for well over a week but it's too high up to get a decent pic. So i was more than happy to find one low down on my early walk along the F&C Canal at Cadder. #spiders #arachnida

Saturday 26th September Found this Cup Fungus sp on woodchips under a Beech hedge along Garscube Rd. I'd like to think it was Toothed Cup 'Tarzetta cupularis' but this group of fungi are notoriously difficult to get to species. #fungifriends

Saturday 26th September It's been a while since i found a caterpillar, so i was pleased to happen upon this one this morning. Clouded-bordered Brindle 'Apamea crenata' : found on the footpath along Panmure Gate and judging by the colour it'll not be long before it pupates. #teammoth

Thursday 25th September My first walk since Monday due to 2 days of being hit with morning anxiety! and i was rewarded with this Dipper at Lock 28, F&C Canal, Knightswood. I see them quite often along the canal but never this far away from the River Kelvin. #birds
