Games beaten in 2026 thread: This will mostly be a repository for my thoughts as I beat games this year, but my plan is to stay on top of it and I'd like to knock out 25-30 games overall.

Wife played the Wuthering Waves x Cyberpunk collab on Monday and it was truly something special if you're a fan of the Edgerunners TV show. It felt very much like an epilogue to the series and gave Lucy some needed healing, and it's now her cannon ending per the showrunners.

Been playing Neverness to Everness (All Gatcha games require a completely nonsensical name) since it launched last week and I've been having fun with it. The supernatural nature of the game gives them plenty of room for wild segments like this one, sometimes completely out of the blue.

Hope everyone had a great weekend now that it's time for many of us to be back at work. Got into a bunch of games this weekend, honestly there's too many great games to play and not enough time! But on the upside, tonight the wife and I will get to watch the season finale of Maul: Shadow Lord.

My wife pulled the new WuWa character Hiyuki this week. I've been really excited to see how much she's learned playing the game, she'd always kept away from playing action based games because some ass told her years ago when she was struggling with Mass Effect "Maybe those games aren't for you".

Been enjoying Saros quite a bit, it's definitely got that Returnal vibe and combat, but with a lot more added. I like the shield, makes combat feel more dynamic than just the dodge. And as much as I love Returnal, the environments in Saros early on are just fantastic!

One does not cross the lightning goddess Fangyi when she's become the Empyrean of Truth! I enjoyed my Yvonne cryo team, but man Fangyi's electro team hits very differently. I'll be rocking this team for a good long time I think.

Been loving #Hades2 all over again, very much enjoying it as the whole experience as I'd played it in early access last year. This was a solid run, wound up taking out Cronos without using a single death defiance. What I did learn as well is that Frinos can apparently block Hecate's sheep spell!

And then there's the character I was *actually* pulling for last night in Arknights: Endfield, Zhuang Fangyi. Absolutely love her design, has a top notch VA and apparently she's just utterly broken gameplay wise, so yeah, very pleased!

Arknights:Endfield has a fascinating pull system for a gatcha game. I was pulling last night for the new character Fangyi and lost my 50/50, but instead of pulling a standard banner character, I pulled TangTang as you have a chance to pull previous banner characters.

Yep, the new #Maul show absolutely rocks. He's such a fantastic villain, the way he speaks and worms inside of people's minds with his twisted logic is absolutely on point. And with this show they're making him by FAR one of the most menacing characters in Star Wars history.

Started playing #Starfield again recently, wanted to clean up the current run and finish the Crimson Fleet quest before all the new content comes out in April. I do understand many of the criticisms of the game, but man I really enjoy it & it has the best NG+ function in the history of gaming IMO.

These price increases are brutal, but can't be surprising. Hell, right now it basically costs me the same as a brand new game just to fill up my tank, everything is outrageously expensive right now. These prices make me wonder what'll happen with GTA6 though if it's only available on consoles.

PS5/PS5 Pro/PS Portal will receive price increases on April 2nd. For USA: -PS5 $549 -> $649 -PS5 Digital $499 -> $599 -PS5 Pro $749 -> $899 -PS Portal $199 -> $249 blog.playstation.com/2026/03/27/n...

Lots of people taking a victory lap on this, but are you all sure this is really a good thing? Open AI isn't going away, they're simply shifting resources from the AI video creation app to other aspects of the company. The company that just got the Government contract that Anthropic had lost...

DiscussingFilm@discussingfilm.net

OpenAI is shutting down its AI video slop-making platform Sora.

Anthropic lost that contract because they outright refused to allow the U.S. government to utilize their AI for two specific purposes, mass surveillance and unmanned weapons platforms. Now Open AI has that contract and they're re-allocating resources, we're all really sure this is a good thing eh?

It's already been a great year for games, I know many got exactly what they were looking for with RE Requiem, for me this is the game I'm most excited about in early '26 (this and Forza Horizon 6). Returnal is my favorite game of the PS5 generation and I cannot wait to see what they do with #Saros!

Really that's all I wanted from them, just a system for the living room that plays both Xbox and PC games as I don't have the desire or patience to put together a gaming PC (especially in the current economic environment). They do need to make the UI seamless though, we'll have to see about that.

Finally started playing #ResidentEvilRequiem last night. Overall I'm enjoying it, and I can definitely see why hard core RE fans love the game, it plays like you'd expect RE to play like and looks great most of the time. We'll see how it goes as I wind up playing more of it.

The biggest congratulations to #TeamUSA Women's Hockey, took home the gold today over a very, very tough Canada team. Our Women's team outscored their opponents 33-2 over the course of the Olympics in an absolutely incredible run.

I've read that the roughly 1/3 of the U.S. gaming developers have been laid off in the last 2 years. Sadly it feels like we're going to continue to see more unfortunate news like this as the entire industry grapples with a variety of issues that don't have any easy answers.

BREAKING: PlayStation is shutting down Bluepoint Games, the studio responsible for modern remakes of classic games such as Demon's Souls and Shadow of the Colossus, Bloomberg News has learned. A shocking end for a well-respected studio.

The recent episode of You and I are Polar Opposites really resonated with the wife and I. An old friend/boyfriend of Suzuki's (quite handsome and charming) shows up and Tani immediately feels threatened and less worthy. It felt like a very real human moment, as I know I've had those emotions before.

This is a crazy number in just 2 weeks since launch, and the fact that 70% of the users come from PC & PS5 highlights what I think is a shift in the gatcha gaming market, as if they want to push well beyond mobile. It kinda feels like the early explosion of MMO's all those years ago.

I'm guessing anyone who's seen this quest ending screen pop feels a lot when they see it now. I'm not kidding when I say my wife cried for a straight 30-40 minutes finishing Aemeath's quest in #WutheringWaves 3.1 as they delivered one of the best storylines I've seen in gaming in a long while.

Watching my wife make her pulls in #WutheringWaves is absolutely brutal, she has the *worst* luck I've seen, basically loses until hard pity. That said, she finally pulled her first banner character Aemeath and she's incredibly happy. I gotta give it to Kuro games, the gatcha animations are legit.

Some recent photos of the doggos, from #Kenway in his favorite place in the closet (atop my old uniforms), #Aloy sleeping upside down as usual or #Aki being adorable for treats.

Spent the weekend playing more of #ArknightsEndfield and I'm very much enjoying the game, but GOOD GOD is it a lot! This is the action RPG combat, but on top of that you have factory building, exploration, a stock market, outpost management, tower defense & multiple different rewards paths.

You and I are Polar Opposites is quickly shaping up to be one of my wife's favorite shows of the new anime year. It's a very cute show, simple fun, and I'm sure it doesn't hurt that the two characters very much resemble us in terms of personalities. Def worth a watch if you want slice of life comedy

Technology is clearly accelerating at a rate that regulators simply cannot keep up with. In my state online gambling is illegal, so no Draft Kings. But now with Polymarkets, I can use DK Predictions to buy "Futures" on the outcome of upcoming events, for instance the NBA games tonight.

RIP to Catherine O'Hara, she was an absolute legend, particularly if you grew up in the late 80's into the early 90's with movies like Beatlejuice, Home Alone and as the voice of Sally in the Nightmare Before Christmas.

Catherine O’Hara has sadly passed away at the age of 71.

I have to give #ArknightsEndfield a bit of kudos, specifically regarding how they tease the 6 star pulls during the lever pull animation. You can actually pull it halfway to see what you're getting on the front end, making the whole pull more interesting.
