Thank you to the more than 270 older adults & nearly 30 neighborhood volunteers who joined us in Brooklyn Bridge Park! And thank you to Catholic Charities for partnering on the event, the fantastic Brooklyn Conservatory of Music band, and the Dept. for the Aging for joining us!

Learn about the rich Arab-American history in BK Heights & Cobble Hill! Join us & the Historic Districts Council for a walking tour led by Borough Historian Asad Dandia exploring our community’s immigrant stories, businesses & culture. Tours: Wednesday, Nov. 18th, 3-5PM & Saturday, Dec. 5, 1-3PM

Drivers who fail to move their vehicles during alternate side parking mean dirtier streets and more flooding from clogged catch basins. We’re conducting enforcement blitzes with the Dept. of Sanitation and the NYPD, and pushing for policy changes, including automatic ticketing with street sweepers.

Long before there were condos in Dumbo, there were lines out the door at Patsy and Carol Grimaldi’s pizzeria. I was proud to co-name Old Fulton Street after Patsy and Carol Grimaldi, who took NYC pizza to new heights and treated all their customers like family. brooklyneagle.com/420814/dumbo...

Attention aspiring Olympians! The Star Spangled Playground in Bed-Stuy finally has a brand-new, state of the art running track and fitness area. Go check it out! Much gratitude to New York Road Runners, New Balance, and the Parks Department for building the facility our community deserves.

Edith gave so much to our community through her years at PS 34 and her volunteer efforts with just about every organization in Greenpoint from the Greenpoint Lions to the 94th precinct council to Church of the Ascension.

The tree planters we installed with the Horticultural Society of NY along Manhattan Ave are already adding some much-needed greenery in Greenpoint. Thanks to the excellent folks at The Hort for maintaining and watering them as they grow and the hard working ACE NY team for keeping planters clean.

Last year, longtime Downtown Brooklyn Partnership security officer Nicola Tanzi was senselessly killed. We co-named Lawrence & Willoughby in honor of Nicola’s tremendous service and dedication to our community and Downtown Bk Partnership installed a plaque at Abolitionist Place Park in his memory.

We co-named Willoughby & Duffield St in Downtown Brooklyn in honor of Ashok “Victor” Vora, a beloved neighborhood small business owner. Victor owned half a dozen stores in Downtown Brooklyn & cared deeply about his community. His family continues his legacy with Concord Market on Tillary.

It was great to check out safety tech on City vehicles w/ @NYCDCAS Commissioner Yume Kitasei. New audible turn alerts are being installed on City trucks & an expansion of intelligent speed assistance that prohibit speeding. These are smart & innovative safety interventions.

We’re expecting heavy rain today and Weds that could cause flooding across the city. Prepare by clearing catch basins on your street and putting out flood barriers. Please limit travel and never drive or walk through flooded streets. Text NotifyNYC to 692-692 to get emergency alerts.

It was enormously special to rename McCarren Park Field 2 after Ronnie Ortiz, Jr. Ronnie was a cornerstone of the park's softball community and was tragically taken from us by gun violence. I hope the field will remind us of his legacy of kindness, sportsmanship & joy of the game

I’m proud to have co-named Aldona Vaiciunas Way at Hudson & Evans in Vinegar Hill. Aldona was a fierce community leader & activist, protector of her neighborhood, & advocate for parks & public spaces. I hope the street sign will remind generations of neighbors of Aldona’s work.
