David Lynch gave us the language we needed to better articulate the indescribable strangeness of our shared reality. “Lynchian” is so overused because it’s a viscerally understandable word without any known synonyms. I can’t imagine a more beautiful artistic legacy than that.

Some people seem to have genuine difficulty accepting how lethal the conditions in Gaza are this winter, particularly for newborns. Read Abubaker Abed and try to put yourself there:

very telling that Biden was willing to put his integrity on the line to pardon his son but doesn't remotely budge in the face of these figures showing how he's brutalizing other ppls' kids. Disgusting lack of empathy

I'm tired of hearing how hot Luigi Mangione is. Tired and jealous. If I'd done it, people would say "I loathe the health insurance industry, but somehow, I just can't idolize the assassin", "I do not consent to this man blowing out my back", "Murder is wrong", and so on.

The U.S. says it conducted airstrikes against over 75 ISIS targets in central Syria, using B-52s, F-15s, and A-10s, as part of an ongoing mission to “disrupt, degrade, and defeat ISIS” and prevent the group from “reconstituting” or “conducting external operations.”

this is a good point & shows that Elon completely undermines his desire for democratized "citizen journalism" by suppressing external links to Substack. What Elon wants is an all-inclusive environment on X where ppl never have to leave his platform. That's not principle; that's revenue maximization

Musk admitted X throttles links, and Threads is only a little better. But social media's quiet war on links has been going on for years. I wrote about how big tech has been draining the open web's lifeblood and giving us "news influencers" instead of the news. www.washingtonpost.com/politics/202...

X articles are cool just as Substack articles are cool. And external portals to news media are healthy for the information ecosystem to avoid people sourcing their entire understanding of the world from a class of influencers

don't wish Kamala any major ill will in saying this, but if she decides to go through with this I think it'll actually be a fascinating display of how party & media subordinates choose to reorient themselves. Do they prop up proven losers or bolster status quo antagonists? Odds are on the former

yes this is flagrantly just repackaged censorship, but that's not really what's generating the nutty amount of coverage here.
