Love my family history; social work quals and worked in prisons for years. Now gardening, enjoying my grandson, and researching, researching, researching. What could be better?

I am creating a powerpoint on the Evidence Explained citation method for my family history society. Wondering - how many FH writers & family historians use it? #Genealogy #genealogycitations

oh yes! Found the actual jobs my Turncock ancester Jason Boesley was doing for the parish - he was paid 2/6 for undoing the lock on the pump in the street to allow water to flow. Thanks FamilySearch full search! #genealogy

My GG grandmother was charged but not convicted of doing abortions - I found she was operating a scam for money - pretty callous. Have just found what happened to the girl she scammed (court case) so at last can complete the story! long live indepth research! #Genealogy

New on Ancestry (for World Explorer/World Heritage) – a transcribe feature for handwriting. Its not too bad – I tested it on a marriage cert with messy writing & given the difficulty of writing in columns, it got most right except for transcribing Williams as Bellairs (interesting!). #genealogy

1698 & my 7th G Grandfather built a sugar refinary in Goodmans fields, London. It cost over 3 million pounds (todays value). How can I find where he got the money from? #genealogy I need a London historian - where to look? #historian

Good to see this sort of exploration into historic family violence - and it gives a snapshot into the social history of the time. A question for all family history searchers - how would you feel if this happened in your family? www.abc.net.au/news/2025-05...

abc.net.auWhen a wealthy WA man killed his wife in 1876, it fuelled the fight for women's rightsA murder in colonial Perth almost 150 years ago shocked the country and inspired Edith Cowan, the woman on Australia's $50 note, to fight for the rights of women.

I loved this find in a charity shop. Bought the pair of dishes of course. But its the scene of the "household clear-out" which is most endearing for me. I only hope the photos, diaries and letters went to Aunty Pat too! #Genealogy #Familyhistory

A confession - I have just found where I can store references in FamilySearch - the source box. Honestly had no idea before, but a gamesaver as I find references to my Cuttle family in Cork with Full Text Search.

Hooray! my daughter's mother-in-law (my friend too!) asked for help to find her grandfather - her mother was illegitimate. With help of a DNA wiz who volunteerd - we have just found the man! Hello Thomas Joyce - you were a bigamist too... tsk tsk

Very excited to find my 4 x g grandfather Joseph Clarkson had a child by Mary Gilliatt abt 1779 when he was 18 out of wedlock, for which his father paid 20 L. Ploughing through 100's of full text possbilities for this!! #Genealogy

Yesterday I posted a letter to the house my 2 x great grandfather built in Christchurch, NZ. I had thought it was demolished, but there it is, with the same front windows and door. Hope it replies to me...

Trying to read old handwriting - an inquest in 1853. Pen-to-print converted it to Russian. Transkribus turned it into German. Anything free out there that could help?
