🥴 American intelligence warned Ukraine that in the event of further strikes on Russian oil refineries, the US would immediately halt any exchange of intelligence information, — WP. The exchange of intelligence information has not been fully stopped, but the threat remains.

The current US actions are hurting Ukraine, no launch warnings, Starlink restricted. In a broader scope, this is negative for Ukraine and Europe short term. Long term, it's hurting the US.

Armaments. In NATO, the US has for decades been the sole provider of many solutions. Many of these, NATO allies pay to access, co-pays to develop, and buy. Like the F-35. As the US now restricts, Europe will be forced to establish and develop its own capabilities.

This will be positive for NATO and Europe, multiple systems create redundancy and stability. It's negative for the US. It leads to the US losing out on co-funding, sales, access fees. Higher costs for same capabilities. And isolation, as European dependency drops.

In #POTUS world, these moves are likely justified towards ending a war. And then make grand claims. #POTUS and the US are no longer reliable allies. Not for Ukraine, not for Europe.

UA informs that RU plans to mobilize (this is on top of RU recruiting) 300K+ after elections (21sep). That is a substantial number, which is not countered by UA as of now.

Another thing that is never talked about is the replacement of the role the mobilized personnel had. Many of the mobilized had jobs, that provided a service of some kind. These skilled workers can't always just be replaced. It takes years to train and educate.

The number as stated is an attrition rate for holding the the line. The relevant question isn't how many UA need to mobilize a month, but how many UA is able to mobilize over time. Why?

Another big challenge is sub-assembly systems that are made in limited numbers, in the US. Production is limited. Export of them is also ITAR.

Production capacity also depends on production lines, which take time to build and train operators. Production also depends on access to materials, many of which 100% depend on China. China controls production capacity as single-source supplier....

That said, there are more challenges. Allowing Ukraine to produce is hardware is one thing, Software/Firmware can be held back. Without access to those parts, it's not operational. SW/FW can be controlled distribution and done by US companies.

Only time will tell. If the efforts are just small parts of capacity, good. If it's all Ukraine has, there is a risk of further negative trend.

Been seeing a few posts about the Russian Arena-M as of late. Most of the comments about the system, is to ridicule and point at failure.

Keep a few things in mind. The Russians are actually battlefield testing the system, which means they have had positive results before this stage. If they continue to mount it and deploy it in the future, it means they are improving it. Failure now, does not mean overall failure.

Watching the videos of the tanks with the system mounted, it is striking how little damage one can see, compared to earlier videos, recent and from early war. It can be the munitions used to knock them out, but it can also be the system having an effect.
