It all bothers me, but the video of the cold-blooded murder of Renee Good by an ICE agent who will face no consequences made me physically ill. Perhaps whatever replication of the Nuremberg trials that convenes in a decade or two will track him down and punish him. I feel like my heart has broken.

I did not know her. I don't live in Minneapolis, but my daughter does. When I first heard the news, I admit I had a few moments of panic. I can't imagine the pain that this woman's family is going through.

Madison, Wisconsin police reported 20 arrests during the football game at Camp Randall stadium between the Wisconsin Badgers and the Ohio State Buckeyes yesterday. They reported ZERO ARRESTS during the No Kings march, held at the same time as the football game. www.wmtv15news.com/2025/10/19/p...

Kudos to the local television station, WMTV, for reporting the story of the local No Kings march without distorting anything. They let people speak, they didn't have an agenda, and they didn't give "equal time" to trolls. They just reported on why people stated they marched.

Autumn weather through August and Summer weather through September probably contributed to a couple of blooms on my dwarf apple trees in October. I don't blame them. I'm confused, too. Southern Wisconsin. 🌱🍎

"Mushroom Basket" tomatoes and cherry tomatoes in different stages of ripening. We have had an outstanding growing season in our corner of south-central Wisconsin. Warm, humid, with abundant, well-timed rain. Fortunate to have avoided the flooding just east of us. 🌱🌱🍄🧺🍒🍅

Kudos to Brad Schimel for a gracious concession in yesterday's Wisconsin Supreme Court election. He is otherwise not a likable guy, and he is particularly creepy and scary to any Wisconsin woman born after the Civil War. That's probably why he lost.

I no longer contribute to campaigns because they just use the money to send me postcards with scary pictures and simplistic slogans reminding me to vote. I have a calendar that reminds me to vote. If they would use the money to get a real message out, I would still contribute.

It only took 12 phone calls, most of which ended with no answer, but I finally spoke to someone at Social Security who understood my question. She dm'ed the person who was holding my claim AND gave me his name and phone number. By the time I called his office, the problem was fixed. I need a nap.

Doing my part to crash the economy by suspending all purchases except the essentials...and girl scout cookies. I bought two boxes from one of the scouts in the neighborhood. Thin mints, baby!

Last week I tried calling Social Security. A recording said there were technical difficulties and hung up. Today I was able to get in the queue. They called back 3 hours later. When I asked how to use Medicare if they don't send me my card by April 1, the rep put me on hold and I was disconnected.

I agree with others here that an intentional economic slowdown is called for. It has to be a change in habit, though, not a one day boycott or strike. It must be sustained. The challenge is making the action known. That's where a publicized boycott or strike has an advantage. We need a name.

The majority of Medicaid funds pays for seniors in nursing homes and hospice, and the disabled in need of long term care. An elder care lawyer told me it was 100% predictable that Republicans in fear of losing their inheritance to mom's medical bills will suddenly advocate for government programs.

We've seen this strategy before in Wisconsin, but on a smaller scale. Former governor Walker "dropped the bomb" on public institutions shortly after taking office. It only worked temporarily. We've done a lot to rebuild since 2011. Stand firm. Do not comply. Find small ways to say NO every day.

Remembering the residents of a large, New York City apartment building I worked at in the 1980s. Most were senior citizens. Quite a few had extended families wiped out during the Holocaust. One man had survived the camps. I'm certain they are all dead by now. They educated me. I will not forget.

These seeds are on sale for 10 cents per pack at Menards. They are for the 2025 growing season. I have used them before and they grew just fine. Not a lot of seeds per pack but that's perfect for me. 🌱

Ok, following some starter packs was a mistake. I'm as concerned as anyone but I don't need multiple reposts of angry memes with ugly images. That's not why I'm here. My mistake. Trying to find some balance.

Thinking of 14 years ago when Wisconsin became the testing ground for American fascism. At that time and in the ensuing years I would often comment that this country was going the way of Nazi Germany. I can't believe some people are STILL telling me it's not that bad.

Yesterday I watched a youtube clip of a hearing where a lawyer claimed that the "vast majority" of his client's criminal history was in the past. If some of his history is not in past, where is it?
