Happy Essex Day. Held on the feast day of St Cedd, bishop of the East Saxons and Essex’s patron saint, it celebrates the county’s history and identity. Today, Essex is represented by 18 constituencies in the House of Commons.

Happy Northamptonshire Day. Marked on the feast day of Saints Crispin and Crispinian, the patron saints of shoemakers and leather workers. It's also linked to Shakespeare’s St Crispin’s Day speech of Henry V at Agincourt in 1415. The county has featured in 108 debate titles.

I was horrified to hear of the attack on Australian MP Helen Haines. My thoughts are with Helen and her family at this difficult time. Nobody who serves their community should face violence while doing their job. Sending Helen our full support from the UK House of Commons.

Thank you, Speaker Moses Wetang'ula for the invitation to Kenya as a Commonwealth partner and friend. It was great to exchange views on building trust in public institutions, maintaining impartiality and resilience, and hearing inspiring perspectives from Kenya's younger generation.

Great to meet Godbless Lema, the CHADEMA former MP for Arusha, in the margins of the Inter-Parliamentary Union 153rd Assembly. These parliamentary summits are a fantastic opportunity to hear perspectives from across the political spectrum and exchange views on representative democracy.

Happy Westmorland Day. Celebrating the historic county's unique identity and rich history. On this day in 1397, Richard II appointed Ralph Neville as the first Earl of Westmorland. The county has featured in 22 House of Commons debate titles.

Happy Cumberland Day. Today we celebrate the county's stunning landscape. The flag's blue and white waves represent Cumberland's coastline and lakes while the Grass-of-Parnassus flowers reflect its fertile plains and uplands. Cumberland has featured in 150 House of Commons debate titles.

A pleasure to discuss parliamentary reform with Jacob Oboth-Oboth, Speaker of the Parliament of Uganda. Strong parliaments depend on transparency and accountability, and it was valuable to share perspectives on supporting democratic processes and effective governance.

In the House of Commons this week, we marked the 25th anniversary of the 11 September 2001 attacks with prayer and reflection. We remembered those who lost their lives, those who still mourn, and all who responded with courage. My thoughts remain with all affected.
