I was in a training for web editing yesterday, and it resurrected the ghost of 2004 within me. Every bit of Blogspot came flooding back. Dreamweaver and one truly old-school web design class from 2008 also resurfaced.

Donating to local races is the best way to help improve the chances of people up the ballot. Especially in the case of Talarico because Texas is just too dang big for one campaign to cover. Local campaigns help fill the gaps and get out the vote.

I love Talarico and hope he wins. But he’s already raised $70M On the flipside, control of critical state legislatures will come down to seats where candidates raise 0.1% of that. I’ve researched the highest leverage swing district candidates you should donate to secure.actblue.com/donate/donat...

Rooting for poor design and malfunctions

I have a meeting with my boss, but she is stuck in another meeting. So I'm doing that thing where I try to decide if I'll pick up work on my project again but I just know that, as soon as I do, she'll be ready to meet with me

Yesterday I saw a praying mantis that looked like a piece of bark. Apparently it's a Carolina mantis? I didn't have my phone to take a picture, so you'll have to trust me when I say it was pretty cool

I bet the principal who kept insisting on more and more and more technology in class is now all in on removing technology from classrooms. Whatever gets her that sweet, sweet job in the district office!

I went to a concert that unfortunately used AI-generated title cards for each piece. Since it was for 4th of July, I got to play my favorite game, "How many stars and stripes are in the American flag?" According to AI, the answer is 8-12 stripes.

Nothing says ‘freedom’ like burning taxpayer money on dirt bikes at the White House for a billionaire’s birthday party. Bread’s expensive, rent’s worse, but sure, let’s fund a midlife crisis with fireworks and motocross. Peak empire decay. America is not a serious country.

For decades, Dan Patrick has sold out the poor, the sick, and the vulnerable to enrich his donors. Love feels like blasphemy when you worship power.

Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick says James Talarico is “going to Hell”: “I’ve never seen so much blasphemy from anyone running for office… He’s going to Hell, for sure.”

It's fledgling season, so now begins the exciting task of keeping the mockingbird fledglings out of the road at work. We rounded up two this morning and moved them under the trees. BUT WILL THEY STAY THERE? NO.

via @laist.com Los Angeles mayoral candidate Nithya Raman gained enough votes Monday to secure a spot in the November general election, according to the Associated Press. That pushes reality TV personality Spencer Pratt out of the runoff.

Okay, I might be off-base here, but someone spent a lot of time tweaking this image, but they couldn't adjust the tie or un-rumple the shirt? Pretend the suit jacket fits through the shoulders? Also, French cuffs are a CHOICE when you are addressing economically-anxious people.

Let me help people who aren't familiar with rural Texas: You have an odd mix of farmers, ranchers, and people who are living on family land. Almost all of them rely on wells, and almost all of them have been dealing with drought conditions for several years.

The data center issue is really starting to pull everyone in the same direction 💯💯💯💯🎯

Data centers drain water reserves and aquifers and suddenly everyone has to dig new, deeper wells. That's expensive, but will only work for people lucky enough to be sitting on a deeper water source. Everyone else will have to port water or sell their property at a massive loss.

I have had to evaluate written tests, and I went through "calibration" first, where I evaluated writing that an expert had already evaluated. I had to match the expert evaluations in order to do solo evaluations. If I only matched 30-60% of the time, I wouldn't have been allowed to evaluate AT ALL
