Last week, a girl started a fire in my daughter's high school. The girl was caught and suspended for 10 days. That same evening, rumors circulated thru social media that the same girl would return to the school with a gun the following day.

☑️Other (explain)... because no one with authority to make gun laws safer cares if my daughter gets shot while trying to get her education. And I won't risk her life or traumatize her by putting her into a potential situation.

I delete that and I chose "sick" instead, because I know everyone at that school cares about those kids. Because I'm sure all of the adults are scared too. Because it's not their fault gun laws are lax. And because I didn't want her to have an unexcused absence.

My first thought, before the gun rumors started, was "if someone is willing to start a fire, what would stop them from being a gun? I hope my daughter lives thru her last 3 years of school." So, I let her stay home.

Now, I understand the rest of my story is based on rumors. I dont know if the fire was intentional or accidental. And social media allows for those rumors to spread quickly among teenagers (and increases response time by the school and police). Either way, the fear is real.

As always, the school takes the threat seriously and gets law enforcement involved. There would be extra police presence and a gun sniffing dog. All of that being said, my daughter was scared to go to school that next day. I let her stay home.

SHARE WIDELY. KNOW YOUR RIGHTS. With mass deportations starting today across the country, it is vitally important - for both citizens and non-citizens - to know your rights. You have the right to remain silent. Assert it. You have the right to a lawyer. Ask for one. (1/3)

And the a sherif inform protesters that if they touch an officer, the sherif "will be sure to contact your family in regards to where to pick up your remains." I live in Florida. We are a MAGA filled state. It's disgusting.

I had a customer share with me today that he hopes protesters surround his car... Why would you say that outloud, to a stranger, in public?? Still, I will stand, peacefully with others, and we'll hold our signs. Be safe. Stay peaceful. Kindness always matters.
