You know what more people need? Ponchos! This is the first one I’ve ever made and I love it. It’s a 50/50 blend of cotton/linen. No pattern.

Just making a shrug. Haute Knits is this gorgeous pink wool. The white is a 50/50 cotton/linen blend. I’ve never made a shrug this way before and I’m in love with the construction.

My husband takes the worst pics of me. I’ll trim the loose ends after I wash it but they’re already woven in. Cascade Yarns Fixation which is a DK weight cotton yarn with spandex which makes it super stretchy.

First pocket is complete! I already wove in the ends for the right side. Now, I’ll finish the left side, including the pocket. And then I’ll hold the two sides together with a hood.

So I’m making a hoodie. The back panels will overlap and the two halves will be held together using the hood. Do I know if this will be a cardigan or a pullover, yet? Um, no. Look how much the side flares out before I connect it with the garter stitch.

I was telling my husband that, for the longest time, I thought this yarn was fingering weight but I found out that it’s DK. Cascade Yarns Fixation.

All finished and blocked. Lang Yarns Super Soxx. I saw this Mixed Tape colorway and had to have it because it was the most 80s looking color combo ever.

I had enough red yarn to make a sweater inspired by the Melt the Ice hat. I’ve worn this all day and even put it on while it was still damp after blocking.

I did some minor surgery on this finished hat. [read: I took out the three needle bind off and moved it over a few stitches] I love making hats this way. That divot sits nicely against the nape of the neck. No real shaping to the crown, just corners that look like ears.

I’m not sure how to describe what I’m making. It’s too small to be considered a poncho. But covers half the body, so too big to be a cowl . . . It’ll be warm though—well, after I finish it!

This old thing? When I’m done with the second front panel, I’ll join the two halves together with a hood. Cascade Yarns Fixation. It’s cotton with a tiny bit of spandex that makes it insanely soft

I made a summer hoodie. It’s Lion Brand 24/7 Cotton. When I sent my friend the pic of the finished object, she answered with a two minute recorded rave. I sent it to her and said, “If it fits, you can keep it.” It fit. And she sent me a pic as proof. Now I gotta make myself a new one!

Decided to restart my project. I’m using Cascade Yarn Fixation. I started making a cardigan or poncho but decided to change tacks. The yarn has spandex in it and is incredibly springy, so brioche it had to be!

I’m LOVING the shape of this shawl/poncho hybrid and can’t wait to wear it next winter (after I’ve finished it LOL) this is what happens when you’re making an asymmetrical triangle shawl and join it in the round to see what happens.

Look who has a new garment! Noro Uchiwa. I was originally going to have an open sleeve but, with the brioche, it flared too much, so I used a little bit of crochet and tacked the sleeve down.

I finished most of it but I decided to add to the sleeves because I clearly have enough yarn left! I actually like the way the sleeves look, so if I don’t love the longer sleeves, I’ll just rip it back.

Rarely do I pick up yarn and immediately start knitting with it. I have a sizable stash and a long list of things I’d like to make with it. But when I picked up this Noro on Saturday, I couldn’t wait and began making a pullover vest.

Saturday, my husband pointed out they were having a sale on some Noro. There were three skeins of this gorgeous colorway and I’m hoping it’s enough for a vest. (I gave up on the banana silk project—for now—because it’s too slubby and I was working with needles that made the gauge too tight)

I got married February 26th in Vegas. I absolutely love my husband but this has got to be one of my favorite photos of all time. This is my friend Samantha. I hadn’t seen Sam since 2018 and I absolutely adore her. I can’t get enough of this candid shot of me cracking her up!

Ray and I went to a yarn store in Waterville, Maine called Yardgoods. They got us cupcakes for a bit of a wedding reception. (This is the store I got the yarn from that I used for the bolero I’m wearing)

I’ve been a nurse for 18 years and I have so much burn out and compassion fatigue; it’s not even funny or anything I can joke about. But look at these cookies that a patient sent us as a thank you! Totes adorbs

Last year, I picked up this banana silk yarn at Mexicali Blues. It’s interesting knitting with it. It’s slubby and thick and thin. I’m loving it though!

Initially, I was going to make a poncho—but that’s a LOT of knitting. So I frogged the whole thing and made an insanely warm bolero. The yarn is Yarn Snob in colorway Happiness. My husband was impressed.

If there’s a weird fire at my house, it was my 15 year old stepkid. He literally put a metal takeout container in the microwave for a full two minutes. I wonder why our previous microwave mysteriously died . . .

It’s 35°F today in Bangor, Maine. I’m all, “Why did I wear a coat?!” I’m gonna ROAST this week in Vegas when I get married because it’s supposed to be in the 70s!

The two halves are joined! I overlapped the backs by picking up stitches through both layers. Next, I’ll be making an oversized hood (my fave!). I’m not sure what I should call this. Bolero? Shrug? Just plain awesome?

As someone who's studied institutional change for 20+ years: The most dangerous part isn't the dramatic moments. It's the quiet compromises, the small rationalizations, the 'practical' decisions. Democracy erodes through a thousand tiny choices, not one big one.
