So the sequence is brutal in its logic: Nipples develop first. Sex determination happens second. By the time testosterone floods the system and says build a male, the nipples are already there. There's no instruction to remove them. Evolution just... left them.

This is a concept called a spandrel a trait that isn't adaptive on its own, but is a byproduct of something else that is. Male nipples aren't a design flaw. They're collateral. A biological side effect of building females efficiently.

Every human embryo starts out sexually undifferentiated. For the first ~6 weeks, you're neither male nor female. You're just a generic template and that template comes pre-installed with nipples. They form before the sex-determining gene even switches on.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists have engineered a virus that invades and destroys glioblastoma one of the deadliest brain cancers while turning the immune system into a relentless tumor-killing force This could be a historic shift in cancer treatment.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: 13-year-old Camarria Williams from Chicago discovers a cancer-fighting compound in goose poop that slowed skin and ovarian cancer cell growth in a lab! Miss Williams said: ‘My mom, auntie and grandma have all had cancer, so it makes me happy that something I found could help'

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Dr. Zhen Xu and University of Michigan scientists are fighting cancer with SOUND WAVES that can destroy tumors without surgery, chemotherapy or radiation The future of cancer treatment could sound very different.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: MIT engineers develop a breath test that detects pneumonia in minutes no X-rays, no lab wait. Just a single breath Two MIT engineers, Loza Tadesse and Aditya Garg, have developed a breath test that can detect pneumonia in minutes.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists at the University of Illinois Chicago unveil “aurB” a bacteria-inspired synthetic peptide that stops cancer growth, showing striking results against radiation-resistant prostate cancer in preclinical trials.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Two Canadian Scientists Develop an Inhaled Vaccine Mist That Delivers Immunity Directly to the Lungs, Right Where Viruses Enter Two scientists, Fiona Smaill and Zhou Xing, developed AeroVax, an inhaled vaccine mist designed to reach the lungs in just 2 minutes.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: World’s First Vaccine Targeting the Entire SARS Coronavirus Family Begins Human Testing GBP511, developed by UW Medicine and tested by SK Bioscience, aims to protect against COVID-19 and future coronaviruses before they spark the next pandemic.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Mexican researcher Eva Ramón Gallegos achieved a milestone that puts Latin American science at the center of the world medical debate: she managed to completely eliminate the Human Papilloma Virus (HPV) in controlled clinical studies.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists have created a sugar-coated nanoparticle that blocks COVID-19 from infecting cells with 99% effectiveness in lab tests. This isn't a vaccine. It's a decoy. And it could change how we fight viruses forever.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists Destroy 99% of Cancer Cells in the Lab Using a Chemo-Free "Molecular Jackhammer" Activated by light, these tiny molecules vibrate 40 trillion times per second, tearing apart cancer cell membranes and destroying them without relying on chemotherapy.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: 18-year-old Arya Satheesh from Ireland has developed a plant-based plastic that can biodegrade and release an enzyme that helps break down other plastic waste. A plastic that could actually help clean up plastic waste.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists have engineered a virus that invades and destroys glioblastoma one of the deadliest brain cancers while turning the immune system into a relentless tumor-killing force. This could be a historic shift in cancer treatment.

🚨 BREAKTHROUGH: Scientists at the University of Nottingham Develop a New Gel That Starts Repairing Damaged Tooth Enamel in Just 2 WEEKS This could replace fillings and change dental treatment worldwide, with use expected around late 2026–2027.

A med student asked me today: "Where does all that mucus actually come from when you have a cold?" You blow your nose. Five minutes later, it's back. Then again. So where is your body getting all of it? Let me explain.🧵

So why does it keep coming back after you blow? Because you aren't emptying a tank you're wiping a conveyor belt. The inflammation signals are still active. Your body is actively pumping fluid into the tissue and secreting mucin every second until the infection is cleared.

A med student asked me today: "Where does all that mucus actually come from when you have a cold?" You blow your nose. Five minutes later, it's back. Then again. So where is your body getting all of it? Let me explain.🧵

First, you need to know you’re never actually empty. Your airways are lined with a sticky gel layer called mucus technically, mucin. You produce about 1 to 1.5 liters of it every single day just to keep your lungs clean. You usually swallow it without noticing.

When a virus invades, your immune system doesn't just sit there. It triggers inflammation. This causes the goblet cells in your airway lining to go into overdrive, pumping out more mucin. Simultaneously, your blood vessels dilate and leak fluid into the airway. That’s the runny part.
