There’s been a lot of Troy Aikman discourse lately and I just wanted to say I always thought he’s been a solid to even quite good commentator on MNF, and I say that as an Eagles fan. I reserve the right to retract this later.

UPDATE: Prices dropped in Boston and I managed to get two tickets for under $350. BEST DAD EVER.

Bluesky’s Golf Guy@cparish.bsky.social

Was trying to get my daughter Katseye tickets in Boston and...what the hell? Taylor Swift-level prices for these girls? They're not THAT good. I seriously thought about buying tickets in Montreal and driving 5 hours each way because they're ONLY $200 each. Dad life, man.

Hey how'd that Austin Smotherman fade work out for me? Brutal luck; they play a fourth round, there's no way that fraud stays in the top 10.

I think we should all repost this with 3 things your kid can do well. My oldest daughter is a delight to watch in her cheer competitions; she’s so enthusiastic. She’s developed a willingness to try new things and be bold. And she’s brilliant and curious and hilarious. Ok sorry that was 5 things.

insanely bleak

Also throw caush into the wind.

Serious question: Is anyone rooting for the Rays? Like I could imagine being a Rays fan if you love the Cubs or the Cardinals but everyone else is firmly rooting for the Brewers, right?

After playing today (worse than this) I am now completely terrified that this is my peak, I’ll never get to single digits, and I’m going to die alone. (I’ve been happily married for 15 years.)

well well well…

When this game gets released, there will be several articles about what it means for US productivity; it'll be something like "US employers lost $6.8 billion as productivity dips after release of GTA VI" because how dare you do anything other than create value for the shareholders

BUTTERFIELD BERMUDA CHAMPIONSHIP: Fun tournament if you don't care at all who wins. Port Royal is the shortest course on tour at just over 6,800 yards, and tournament winners are typically random. Course history doesn't factor much, nor does recent form. No specific stat stands out as a trend.

"Let golf be elitist" is so deeply classist and racist -- you don't get to play with us, this is our game. It's already an incredibly difficult game to get into with costs and equipment. He wants to make that worse because he thinks he and his friends are better than you.

East Potomac costs $42 to play and hosts thousands of people each year. A lot of the players are beginners. A lot of them don't have that much money. A lot of them are black. This is the course Donald Trump has decided shouldn't exist, and in the past, he's been fairly explicit about why not

There would be weather factors if there looked to be much in the forecast, and it will be breezy on the weekend, but the course is soft and receptive after some heavy rain. I'll look for putters who can get hot on Bermuda greens and who I feel like I can trust if it gets blustery.

I would pull the plug on Peterka and Pastrnak being linemates. Both players become way too deferential to the other when together. It's taking away from what they do well.

Today I went to Burger King to try their new nuggets and they also have a new sauce that I was excited to try out and the guy in the drive-thru told me "there's no new sauce, they never ended up making it" and now I'm furious because this is a flat-out lie AND I didn't get to try the sauce!

Wow, absolutely terrifying. And he played pretty well! Wishing the best for his recovery.

Eagles QB Jalen Hurts, who is out for the season after several blood clots were revealed in his lungs. Before the London game, Hurts was in the hospital until 4 am and did not sleep because sleep was a risk. He played the game without having slept. Crazy.

I was thinking about this last night and find it hilarious for a couple of reasons but mainly: Eagles: QB and many others injured Giants: QB and many others injured Commanders: QB and many others injured Cowboys: Are just terrible

“Hey Siri, show me the worst division in football.” 🗑️

I picked up Darren Waller today because of an injury, only to watch Carolina’s OTHER TE, Tommy Tremble, score twice while Waller had zero catches. Fantasy football is stupid.

The Bryson Fire, or as we in the golf world call it, LIV Golf. Heyoooo

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

A rapidly spreading wildfire has burned up to 200 acres in Malibu’s brush-filled mountains amid bone-dry conditions and powerful Santa Ana winds. The Bryson Fire sparked Thursday around 4:40 p.m. and ballooned from two acres to 100 in less than two hours.

If anyone has a Post subscription with a gift link, I’d like to read this. I’m one who suffers from adult-onset oral allergies and it suuuuucks. Can’t eat apples, peaches, cherries, strawberries, and a few others.

The Washington Post@washingtonpost.com

If you have fall allergies, you’re probably familiar with the congestion and sneezing from ragweed pollen. But a pollen allergy can also set you up for a kind of allergic reaction to specific foods, called oral allergy syndrome. Here’s what to know:

I had been thinking about it for a long time. I was thoroughly addicted to Twitter. I opened it every morning first thing to see what I missed. At some point I realized I didn’t get anything out of it anymore. Also the Liver King ads. God, those were brutal.

Julian Sanchez@normative.bsky.social

This was my last straw too. One of his myriad Great Replacement/white supremacist tweets crossed my feed and I thought: “How the hell can I justify donating free labor that helps increase this guy’s wealth & relevance even infinitessimally?”

The day after the 2024 election I woke up (quite hung over) and decided from now on I’m drinking my coffee black. I don’t know why. I just decided in that moment that I’m a black coffee drinker now. And for almost exactly 2 years, I did! It’s time to go back.

Our guy here was a healthy scratch this week. Again. Tough break for the thousands of owners who added him this week.

Bluesky’s Golf Guy@cparish.bsky.social

This is sort of fun -- Yahoo screwed up and are projecting this TE who I've never heard of before and who has not even recorded a TARGET so far this year -- as the highest projected free agent scorer in Week 5. And therefore people are adding him like crazy.

To be clear the Eagles called timeout with 12 seconds left for some awful reason, kicked the FG to take the lead, and then kicked off and allowed a huge return. Just stunning incompetence.
