Beginner struggling with barre chords.
Self taught online lessons.
Of the seven different guitars I have come across in the last year all were 12inch radius fretboards.
I just assumed that was the norm.
My wife buys me a Squire with a 9.5inch and BOOM, I can play barre chords.
What the hell

Ok first impressions, the high E is riding right on the edge of the frets which I can adapt to, but would rather not.
Just eye balling the nut I feel like the high E is just a smidge too far over.
So it could be a combination of adjusting the neck and cutting a new nut.

That's better. The neck has been adjusted, new bone nut fitted and string trees for good measure.
High E is sitting much more even and uniform.
It's my first 9.5inch radius fretboard. All my others are 12.
The stock action is a teeny bit high but it'll do for now.

Apparently everyone needs to hear this.
AI is not ok.
We all winge about the data centres and water use etc etc.
Yet all day every day I see left and right wing AI garbage.

Yay, the wedding sign and ring box are finished. 2 months away from the date. Which is a first for me (last time I got the sign finished the day before 😲)
Can't post images until after the wedding.
Now where was I? Oh yeah back to my guitar build.
Jobs done today
Changed all the CNC bearings and blocks
Modelled and 3D printed a cupholder to fit a RAM mount.
Put two coats of polyurethane on the new guitar.
Polished a wedding ring box and assembled.
The only bummer with making stuff for a wedding, I can't post photos until after the wedding.
In my quest to turn an absolute piece of garbage guitar into something nice and playable.
I discover the bridge was originally set about 5mm too far back making intonation impossible.
The quest continues.
For a first attempt. I'm bloody happy with that.
I broke the C and had to make another one and even though the veneer is from the same block its from a different depth and ended up a different shade.
Lesson learnt.
My wife bought 'the good sheets' from a local big franchise and the seams split.
I don't want a replacement. I want better. I want overkill.
Do it yourself.

It's finished.
My first full build
Neck refinished
Stainless steel frets
Bone nut
Black Gotoh tuners and string trees.
Alnico pickups.
Respray to metallic blue.
Black pearlesant custom CNC pickguard.
Black Gotoh bridge.
Rewire keeping original volume and tone pots.
2 hours of trouble shooting only to find out it was the NEW jack plug and the 35 year old pickup switch conspiring together.
Grrr.

Ok spoilers. I had to see it.
Body polishing done.
Give me a couple days to put it together.
It's not perfect but for a first attempt at polyurethane over metallic spray. It's not bad.
