it's pretty astonishing, thought not at all surprising, how there's a whole Twitter ecosystem dedicated to posting reels of Angel Reese missing shots and constantly making fun of her. she finished 7th in MVP voting and is arguably the best player on a WNBA Finals team. she's very good at basketball!

living in Colorado has really turned me off of the idea of direct democracy. we've got like 20 different ballot initiatives to vote on this year and the voter guide is 130 pages long. representative democracy is great. it's like hiring someone for a service. I vote for y'all to get this sorted out

I joke on him for being a definitionally mediocre coach at Louisville, and for Cincinnati inexplicably paying UofL $3.5 million to hire him away, but Scott Satterfield would be a nice hire for NC State feel like he's a decent coach who's just been out of his comfort zone the past eight years

you don't need much more proof that the whole "Why I left the Democratic Party" thing is a grift than her trying to take offense to a joke that 98% of people obviously understand I like The Cheesecake Factory and all of its tacky opulence. that doesn't mean I want my house to look like one

he'll make a gaffe that'll cost his team a game, but putting Mario Cristobal at Miami feels unfair. get one of the best offensive line coaches in the sport to build along the trenches and pair it with the best South Florida skill position talent. oh, and give him a giant NIL bag to work with

as much shit as Pat McAfee understandably gets, Nick Saban's the College GameDay cast member who's had the biggest hand in that show getting demonstrably worse the past few years you've taken a show built around joy and excitement and injected it with a sourpuss who sees happiness as rat poison

Michele Tafoya really went from an all-time bag drop -- leaving one of the cushiest gigs in sports to start a YouTube channel nobody watches -- to running a competitive Senate race as a Republican in a reliably blue state during an awful cycle for the GOP. helps to have a weak opponent, but still

for the past year and change, I've made a concerted effort to be less online. the results are in: I've got no idea who Ethan and Hila Klein are and, man, is it an amazing feeling

I understand why Penn State fired James Franklin, but if you would've told me that process would've ended with Franklin being replaced by Matt Campbell, I would've just kept Franklin. and I think Campbell's a great coach I just don't think there were that many options out there who were upgrades

if you're gonna to a school where you can't drink or have premarital sex, you might as well get a stunning backdrop. I don't know how places like Liberty and Baylor compete with that

as much as I hate to platform Liberty University, college football should have a Commander-in-Chief's Trophy style of setup with Notre Dame, BYU and Liberty the de-facto national universities for Catholicism, the LDS Church and Evangelical Christianity would just need a name for it

admittedly haven't heard Susan Collins speak much in my time on this earth, but after seeing clips of her debate performances, does she always talk like this? or is this just a product of being 73 years old? she sounds like she's on the verge of passing out every time she opens her mouth

doing some research for my newsletter this week, which will focus on the ridiculousness of Jeremiah Smith, and came across this "you miss 100% of the shots you don't take" 𝖶̶𝖺̶𝗒̶𝗇̶𝖾̶ 𝖦̶𝗋̶𝖾̶𝗍̶𝗓̶𝗄̶𝗒̶ Pat Narduzzi

Pitt, which has developed All-Americans and future NFL standouts at wide receiver, is nowhere close to the funniest offer Jeremiah Smith got Charlotte offered him a year and a half after his first offer and after months of taking unofficial visits to Ohio State, Miami and Georgia. Charlotte!

had a discussion with some co-workers today about the most horseshoe-up-their-ass college football teams ever my entries: 2013 Auburn (the undisputed title-belt holder) 2002 Ohio State 2022 TCU

Haley Williams not only being on Airplanes, one of the worst songs this century, but being a big part of why that song is so bad will never cease to be confounding

Union Station's also one of the places I've really grown to love in my four years here in Denver. outside of Grand Central, probably the nicest train station I've been to in the US

can easily envision a scenario where Ossoff wins in 2028, the Republicans double down on nativist politics but just think they need someone more telegenic to be the face of it and nominate Brandon Gill in 2032 so we'd get Jon Ossoff against Wario Jon Ossoff

one of the big reasons Duke-UNC is considered the best rivalry in men's college basketball is because of the quality of their games (Louisville-Kentucky's got them beat on hate). if we're using that same metric for college football, I think it's gotta be OU-Texas, right?

don't know if I ever put it on social media, but Bob Chesney was my runaway No. 1 choice for Penn State last year. if Matt Campbell doesn't work out there (it's still early and I think highly of him as a coach, so we'll see), that search might go down as all-time mismanagement

this pro-Paxton ad with the random lady saying your children are under threat because some strangers' kids are getting gender-affirming care and it's James Talarico's fault is all kinds of gross he really must be getting desperate

I'm grateful that NIL and immediate transfer eligibility weren't around when Lamar Jackson won his Heisman 10 years ago because if it's this bad for a player at an SEC school where he has deep family ties and that he grew up rooting for, I can't imagine what it would have been like for Lamar

bang-up job, Jared Polis. you should be so proud of yourself

NEW: As Colorado’s Tina Peters reportedly meets with President Trump to discuss an election “plan,” her attorney says the plan involves seizing ballots nationwide and discusses strategy for a potential civil war

we had our occasional differences when I covered him (as any coach and beat writer should), but I always had a ton of respect for Jeff Capel. good to see a coach out there talking like this

whenever he's done at Pitt, a smart network out there will sign Jeff Capel to work in studio or on games. I think he'd instantly become one of the best analysts in the sport

this column, which argues that Sophie Cunningham isn't a good enough player to justify everything that comes with having her on your team, has upset a lot of the same folks who made the same point to justify Colin Kaepernick getting blackballed from the NFL

nytimes.comFever should part with Sophie Cunningham. She’s too turbulent to be paired with Caitlin ClarkIf the Fever ever want to go back to being a basketball team, Cunningham — who was largely responsible for this year's circus — has to go.

there's about a 5% chance Poch will be around for 2030, but this is about as good as I've felt about the USMNT's future in a while. the kids are alright

looks at the players in the photo, reads the caption over five teams, sees Lamar isn't there

the Holy Trinity of things that freaked me out as a little kid: Judge Doom in Who Framed Roger Rabbit the monster from FernGully the Siamese cats from Lady and the Tramp

this probably gives away that I never played football and lack the requisite toughness/pride, but unless it's a do-or-die conversion or you're close to the end zone, fighting for extra yardage is for suckers feel like you end up getting the ball punched out at least 40% of the time you do it

I doubt this will happen, but if Colorado goes 0-fer the rest of the season, Deion will have almost the exact same win percentage at CU as his predecessor, Karl Dorrell
