It’s been a year since this collection was released. Celebrating with this lovely post by @sadiehartmann.bsky.social who always offers her time to bestsellers, under represented voices, and indie authors.

Killer line up. What Rots the Flesh of Fruit is a folk horror story buried among other great stories in this anthology curated by Wayne Felon and edited by Jennifer Bernardini. Story loosely inspired by The Changeling. Released October 13th 2026. #anthology #shortstories #horror

It’s reflective of my age that the first thing I thought after watching Project Hail Mary wasn’t how good it was and its underlying message of humanity. It was wear the frick can I buy that cardigan.

There’s a lot of talk about a particular association that leans heavily toward horror. While I’m not a member, I have observed their lack of non-bias mediation in the past. No organisation is above scrutiny. No poor behaviour can go overlooked. No person exempt from judgement.

Got to say, that while I’m enjoy Widow’s Bay, they didn’t need the origin story. It just pulled me out of the narrative, which is weird because its intention was to add to the overall narrative.

If horror is “having a moment”, it’s only because the suits have realised they can profit from the genre. Horror has always been around. There has always been great horror writers. Great horror films. Great horror artists. Horror is the one constant that never compromises.
