Just a typical childless cat dad married to a childless cat lady. Los Angeles (Koreatown) resident. Originally from Buchannon, WV and Killbuck, OH (my parents had a thing for Bucks apparently).

As someone who grew up in a very poor rural area. Where Miller High Life is peak cultural output, I much prefer living in a dense urban environment. That said it can be a challenge having ASD with the noise and smells. My wife gets amused on how irrationally angry I get on diarrhea sounding cars.

Half of the books on our bookshelf are Romantasy books. A genre I am not very interested in but my wife adores. However, I make it a point to lurk forums to find out what books to buy for her. I think any author upset over romance are just jelly on how popular the romance genre is. Romance sells.

Oh we're doing Romance novel discourse again?

I moved to Los Angeles so I have an excuse to not care about the Browns, don't make me pay attention now. Most of my memories of the brows are post Ravens so I have only known them to be a terrible team, but I have fond memories of spending time watching the games with my dad so there is that.

My normally noisy ass neighborhood here in LA is eerily quiet during the Mexico v England match. Only noise was some fireworks during the single Mexico score (before half). If Mexico wins, our neighborhood will be lit. I assume people kept some fireworks aside from the 4th.

Like many in the US. I went through an extended period of surviving on store brand peanut butter, Maruchan ramen, and Bar-S hotdogs.

I wrote about how meaty, salty, fatty hot dogs became the food we're all supposed to eat on the hottest days of the year. This one is free for all @weareravenous.com subscribers, just give us your email! www.weareravenous.com/hot-dogs-jul...

I think this is a perspective that works on normies. Do you really want a track or softball coach inspecting your kid's gentiles? I do have other reasons (including this) based on actual science and constitutional protections, but whatever works to reach to people.

elderly council of wizards mandates child gential inspections.

Going to be flying out to Cleveland to see family in Ohio. Besides some pierogi (I have to force myself to remove the s) and Heini's cheese, I am super excited for Cedar Point. They added three new coasters since I lived there (if you count TT2 as a new coaster).

I think wow they didn't make them like they used to. But Google searching shows it cost around $250 back in the late 70s. Inflation calculator from 1978 to 2026 says it would cost around $1,300. I feel like that would get you something of good quality.

My wife can fall asleep with every single light on with no problems. But if there is a piece of electronics in the room with a blue LED she can't. She can fall asleep with the TV blaring but me not putting the toilet seat down super gently is a major disturbance in the force.

I recommend this place! The food isn't something you can get easily elsewhere and is made well and well priced (for LA). The plaza was getting a little run down but has gotten new paint and upgrades around the time this replaced the old restaurant. The Korean place next door is pretty good too!

Kyrgyzstan style restaurant opens up in LA Koreatown. Inside Cafe Ordo on Irolo St.

Yeah! Why blow up children abroad when we can be kidnapping them here in the to good ole' US of A. America First!

Jeffries: "We're seeing the beginning of an all-out war in the Middle East at the same time Trump & his administration & Republicans have cut more than a trillion dollars from Medicaid, ripped away food in terms of nutritional assistance, & they're spending our taxpayer dollars to start another war"

As a Koreatown resident, I am surprised the neighborhood isn't known much outside of LA. We have amazing food, you can actually walk, and some of the OG grocery stores can be a fun visit. We have good public transit access (by LA standards). But if you drive, then park at a garage and walk.

I had a conversation about the Muppets and then I went on about, "there is that short guy with the glasses that was everywhere. He was on the Muppets and even did a Daft Punk song." I had lost my wife so I googled him and sure as shit it came up with the answer. Notice, it wasn't Gemini....

One right our fascist Republican lead government hasn't taken away is my right as an American to bitch about the weather even if the sky is falling. Yes there are far greater worries in the world, but it's a slice of normal to bitch about how hot it is in Los Angeles.

To the team for @gomez.house.gov please ask him to start pushing bills to defund ICE and impeach Noem. I live in Koreatown and I love my vibrant and colorful neighborhood of mostly immigrants. The idea that we have an administration that wants to take this away is a crime that must be stopped.

Rep. Jimmy Gomez@gomez.house.gov

Last week, I voted NO on pouring billions more into Trump’s ICE and CBP. Now it’s the Senate’s turn. I’m urging my Senate colleagues to stand up, vote NO, and reject Trump’s dangerous anti-immigrant agenda and his unchecked national police force.

This is great! For those outside of LA, Koreatown is a densely populated area of LA with mostly apartments. Many of these apartments are older too, so closet space is a premium and TLC is needed. It's not uncommon to have to wait a week or two to get our landlord to fix something in our apartments.

Tried explaining to my German teacher (who is Austrian) the PTO system here in the US and his response was basically, "That's crazy." Seems that most Europeans think it's crazy to have sick days and vacation days come out of the same pool. But, "verrückt" was thrown around in that session.

I have fallen in love with Campus B5 26-ring binders for my hobbiest game design. The paper is nice to write on and has different sheets you can mix and match. My only complaint was lack of a good dotted grid like in Leuchtturm notebooks. But I JUST noticed a sheet that has a faint grid!
