i spent my september rewatching wind waker and naturally with the amount of sailing link does i had to draw wind's requiem... it was a lot of fun to draw this! i feel like wind waker's art style subconsciously inspires me, it's just so shaped and punchy... πŸ’₯πŸ’š love this game!!!!

just finished my 8th journal πŸ₯³ journal 8 was my first time doing a "daily planner" format (as opposed to weekly planner), and i had a lot of fun with it!!! very eager to start my 9th journal and make some new memories πŸ₯Ί additional thoughts about the format below 🧡

but honestly? i think that's pretty inconsequential... i think the daily format does a better job of addressing my current needs! it: - makes sure that my days don't bleed together - encourages me to appreciate the present moment - is flexible in ways that weekly planners aren't so i'm happy!

journal 8 came during a time where i was doing a LOT of time-consuming projects on the computer... zine organization, artfight, and tabling, so i'm grateful that it offered time away from screens AND gave me a way to say, "hey, i existed and showed up today." and that's awesome πŸ₯³ i <3 journals5ever!

draw, write, or glue in any scraps related to that day. most of the time, i did comics or infographics about the activities in a particular day and WOW is it nice to have a visual of how i spent my time! it really made me cherish the day to day moments πŸ₯Ί i think daily > weekly in this respect.

i will say that there are some things i miss from the weekly format... in previous journals, i used to have centralized spreads where i would paste in post-its with nice things people said to me throughout the week... and i don't really do that anymore since the niceys are on daily pages instead.

i use the midori MD grid notebooks for my journals! i liked the idea of doing daily doodles, so i ended up yoinking some inspiration from the hobonichi daily planner. each day has it's own page, where i have five tasks/objectives a day listed at the top. the remaining space was a place for me to-

something i really like about artfight is the way it gameifies art and encourages me to push myself to try new things... and in this case it was trying to draw as much of yen and i's splatoon ocs as possible! it was a really fun challenge and i enjoyed thinking abt how the rships informed the comp!

this was the last piece i did for artfight and i'm glad i could close out the event on this one. doing this really reminded me of what i love doing the most: illustrations with an emphasis on color and atmosphere to drive narrative...! πŸ₯Ί so cheers to making more of that in the future, yippee!
