I started the Australian Rail Maps website in 1996, and it's been online for 30 years since then. I opened a Google Adsense account in 2004 and have displayed Google Ads for the 22 years since then. But today, I stopped using Google Adsense, and railmaps.com.au is now free from advertising. 1/10

I have made these diagrams of the Sydney suburban rail network that show each service pattern that runs every 30 minutes as a separate line. There are separate diagrams for weekday off-peak services and weekend services.

The sinuous line of King Street through Newtown - one of Sydney’s most memorable main streets. Its sits on the ridge line that separates Botany Bay/Sydney Harbour catchments. Shown as early as 1793 on European maps, it almost certainly follows the line of an aboriginal track #publicsydney

Sets V21 and V36 at Sydney Central station, 2024. All good things must come to an end, and tomorrow is the last run of these wonderful trains. Who knows how many millions of people they moved over the years? A real credit to people at Comeng. 19/The end

As far as I can tell, this was the first photo I ever took of a V set - at Strathfield in 1983. The gold tinted windows made them seem so futuristic. 2/n

After more than 55 years serving the people of New South Wales, tomorrow is the last ever run in public service of a V set interurban double deck electric train. So this is the perfect time for a photographic tribute to these venerable, hard working and much loved trains. 1/n
