Neil Young already sued Trump once over this song. Trump settled. Neil, Don't let Trump off easy! Be like E. Jean Carroll, dude! We already know $5 or 10 million isn't enough to stop Trump, so go for serious punitive damages. Eight figures! Give it to charity if you like. It'd transform lives.

nbcnews.comNeil Young sues for the second time over Trump’s use of ‘Rockin’ in the Free World’The lawsuit seeks $10 million for what it calls damage to the rock star’s “reputation and brand as a result of the implication that he supports Donald J. Trump in any way.”

Trump and the GOP ended the American Empire. With hard work, we can rebuild our democracy, hold criminals accountable, and replace institutions. We can do better. But we can't go BACK. The GOP proved that the image of the United States we pretended to enjoy was never real.

First, crucial institutions failed, and Trump crushed them. Second, the Rule of Law crumbled. Third, SCOTUS proved the CONSTITUTION couldn't hold. Most importantly, the US elected a known racist autocratic felon. Twice. We can never say, "We're not like that." This is who we have always been.

WaPo examines a domestic abuser from the point of view of... the abuser. Interesting. They repeat his claim that she's just crazy, that he didn't harm her or his daughter, and his troubles making the problem go away. I thought it was just a deal to get access, but Miller never talked to the Post.

washingtonpost.comMax Miller, fighting domestic abuse allegations, scrambles to hold House seatBoth parties are spending heavily in an Ohio district that only months ago appeared secure for Republicans.

"That whispering won't stop. I think it's those worms again. 'Vaccines kill people.' 'No painkillers for women.' 'Measles isn't a big deal.' I know it's all crazy, but I can't stop." "Nobody should EVER put me in a position of trust. I told them that. I testified to it in open court!"

"The sleeper issue that could decide the US Senate race in Texas." The secret? 'Corruption.' WaPo is shocked — Shocked, I say! — that people care about the corruption everyone's been shouting about, that fills the TV news, and that they've reported on every week. Is Bezos really that stupid?

washingtonpost.comThe sleeper issue that could decide the U.S. Senate race in TexasThe race between Ken Paxton (R) and James Talarico (D) has revolved around the issue of government corruption, a top voter concern just behind the economy.

When the polls close, counting starts. Small, rural, Republican-leaning districts finish fast; dense, Democratic cities are slower. Partisans shout, "It's taking too long!" to disenfranchise Democratic cities. Maybe we shouldn't elect people who are against free and fair elections? Just an idea.

Trump: "Nobody wanted to eat out… people would walk in and like the Wild West, 'Hold it up!' Everybody is standing there. Can you imagine?" Trump's repeating a scene in a movie as if happened. He can't tell the difference between real and make-believe because, to him, there was never a difference.

Seth Abramson@sethabramson.bsky.social

He's hallucinating in public again None of this ever happened

Trump talks about getting rid of the press pool. Maybe? It's not like they ask any of the tough questions. Not anymore. And getting Trump out of the headlines would be a net positive for most of us.

Dude. *Another* gay romance? I mean, that's… a lot. But you know, gay men who just admitted it can be man-sluts for a while. I get that. I appreciate that your advisors are telling you to hide it, but really. You're the President. There's nothing left to prove. It's time for you to come out.

Mitch McConnell is still dead, right? I know they reanimate him now and then, but I think he's dead right now. If *I* could barely move or speak, they'd have fired my ass in a New York minute. And then they'd have canceled my healthcare. Why can't all of us get the compassion that asshole gets?

Musk spent millions on Susan Collins ads. Imagine if he'd paid Maine's heating oil bills instead. If Musk spent half as much on good works (and kept his mouth shut), we'd be singing his praises. He'd be politically invulnerable, and we wouldn't be screaming "Eat the rich!" He's an idiot.

Musk is trying to buy an election, and it's left him a pariah. Worse (for him), we can all see that billionaires are extracting everyone else's wealth by jacking up prices while delivering fascism. They're not capitalists; they're just thieves. Billionaires are stupid.

Oh, look! Not only did Trump restore the Reflecting Pool to how it looked before he started, but he also made the trees green again, even though it's October. And you can't see any of the long chain-link fences. The man's a miracle worker! Or, you know, Trump's just lying again. Your choice.

Zelenskyy says that Starshield access has finally been restored. I can't imagine that endless attention had ANYTHING to do with that. I wonder if Trump woke up, or Musk finally realized that he can't force us to elect his cronies no matter how much he pays. www.washingtonsun.com/foreign-poli...

Oh, lookie. President Trump says that he hasn't even talked to Elon Musk about the Starshield slowdown. In other words, Trump said Musk started the slowdown, Musk runs Starshield instead of Trump, and Trump doesn't even care enough to look into it. They can't even get their lies straight.

Maybe I'm a snob. When I read articles like this, I wonder, "Are they stupid, or do they believe WE'RE stupid?" Inflation is how much prices *rise*. Even if inflation goes to zero, prices will NOT drop. And FYI? If prices drop across the board, something VERY bad is happening. You won't like it.

washingtonpost.comVoters angry about high prices may get little relief from the next CongressEven if Democrats win control of Congress on Nov. 3, lawmakers can do little about prices that are uncomfortably high -- and will stay that way even as the rate of inflation is expected to slow.

The Trump administration is still throttling Ukraine's access to Starshield. Liars. They're all just damn liars. Remember: Nothing that starts with "Donald Trump said…" ends well.

Oh, noes! How can that happen?!? How can we possibly still be surprised that they're liars, and that nobody can trust the smallest thing they say without documented proof from multiple sources? What, are we fucking stupid?

Hoodlum 🇺🇸@nothoodlum.bsky.social

Ukraine reported Starlink problems Friday, losing drones and limiting strikes on Russia. Thursday, Trump claimed Musk had restored service. Friday, he admitted he hadn’t even spoken to Musk.

Thanks to enshittification, US medical costs are higher than anywhere else and deliver worse care. Drugs cost too much, a health event can ruin you, and end-of-life care is _structured_ to drain our wealth. But the REAL problem is that HR departments aren't negotiating hard enough. Really?

washingtonpost.comOpinion | Health insurance through work is flailing. Time to go ‘full Shark Tank’?Employers are struggling with rising premiums. Some are looking for a different model.

Or, you know, this is an incredible wealth transfer that's sucking down a fifth of the US economy from the neediest, most vulnerable people, with most of that cash going to rapacious insurance and pharma corporations.

Trump commits outrageous acts daily to distract us from the Epstein evidence. His DOJ breaks the law, ignores court orders, and defies an Act of Congress. Listen to him at rallies, and you hear echoes of the accusations. We know he's terrible, but Trump knows the FULL truth. It's why he's scared.

I won't call Trump's cult 'deplorables' (not my word), but I won't call them Christians. They're not. I'm not of the faith, but I was raised in it. Being Christian is HARD. It demands a lot. I've known devout people, and they're wonderful: kind, generous, giving. Trump and MAGA aren't close.

Oh, Trump's an Antichrist. That needs some explanation. For me, Trump isn't a 'Minion of Satan' because those are fairy tales. But if you *believe* in the Bible, Trump fits the bill: lawless, corrupt, and claims to be a savior while undermining every Christian value. Yup. That's the Antichrist.

ianneilschmidt1.bsky.social@ianneilschmidt1.bsky.social

The Anti-Christ himself, probably:

I was walking between marches in DC when I passed this food truck just doing business on the Mall. "SCHWARMA TACOS QUESADILLAS CHEESESTEAKS BURGERS HOTDOGS FRIES..." So many nationalities! That's the American food scene. *This* is the diversity I celebrate.

Wow. Privatizing a critical safety function when we're reeling from unending food-poisoning disasters. Talk about a breathtakingly ill-considered position. Good shootin', WaPo! I wonder how Jeff Bezos figures to profit from it. You know there's a billionaire's interest in there somewhere.

washingtonpost.comOpinion | Privatized air traffic control would mean safer skiesDemocrats want to slow modernization. Republicans want government ownership. There’s a better way.

Trump sees the White House as HIS property. And what do you do with nosy neighbors who keep prying? Why, you put big fences all around the joint. All this stuff just went up. And they must've been running late, because they were still putting up plywood on the 10/17 No Kings Day.

Imagine Elon Musk's options. He's so rich, he could end hunger in America and be RICHER by year's end. Lift people out of poverty and stop wars before they start. He could have our loyalty. Instead, Musk spends billions rigging elections. Sure, he's a sociopath, but more importantly, he's an idiot.

Did the US decline impossibly far in two years? No. It's been much longer. I saw it during the Nixon administration. Republicans wanted single-party rule. They worked for decades to gut institutions, weaken checks, and stack the courts, while the Dems sat back, limply. "The courts will stop them."

Operatives *bragged* about a permanent Republican majority. They were close to success, too. Then Trump hijacked their movement. The idiot saved us. Yes, endless chaos and millions dead, but we see what they're doing, with enough time to act. Don't compromise with fascists. Vote them ALL out.

On the plus side, the Lincoln Memorial was open. They'd closed it and put up fences to keep everyone far away during the recent March on Washington. NG soldiers were standing around, but at least it was open.

Nathan Standing@cryptosantra.bsky.social

Oh, and they were playing loud 'patriotic' music. Did Trump have his fingers in his ears as he hummed really loud, or was he wearing those noise-canceling headphones like kids wear? Little pink things? What a fragile buffoon.

I went to DC today for No Kings. Trump was hunkered down in the White House. New fences all around, keeping people at least a block away on all sides. They'd fenced off half of Lafayette Park and all of the Ellipse. Still putting up tall plywood fences to block any direct view of the WH. Snowflake.

Oh, and they were playing loud 'patriotic' music. Did Trump have his fingers in his ears as he hummed really loud, or was he wearing those noise-canceling headphones like kids wear? Little pink things? What a fragile buffoon.

Rape culture isn't just 'bad people'; it's embedded in white male culture. I'm an old white guy, so I have some experience. As kids, it was "predator/prey". Fuck consent. Just get the girl not to say 'no'. Lying, alcohol, manipulation; anything was fair. Women were gatekeepers, and men hated that.

You can understand why some men object endlessly to any vision of consent that doesn't allow deceit. Me, I hated the whole fucking thing, but this was the understanding that generations of American men followed. This was how men were SUPPOSED to act. THAT'S the culture we need to end.

"Open a can of worms, and you'll need a bigger can to put them away." Wars don't get smaller. Iran knows they don't have to back down. No, we won't get away cheap. We'd need a deal big enough that all the sides say, "Yeah, that looks better than fighting." It'll be hard, and it'll be big. But...

Time and again, decade after generation, we find new ways to wage war, but we never learn how to do *peace*. Ask anyone in the military, and they'll tell you it's much easier to start a war than to end one. Drop a bomb, and you're at war. By comparison, peace has a LOT of moving parts.

Obama gave us the real thing with the JCPOA, and the GOP threw that away for nothing. They looked at winning in every area and blinked. Didn't look like anything to them. They're blind to peace, even when it's laid out in front of them. Republicans can't do this. They just don't have the knack.

But...

Sadly, we also know that Republicans can't make deals. They never admit any mistake, the biggest requirement. They simply refuse to compromise, which is essential. And besides, they don't have any people with enough talent to do the work. They're fuckin' TV hosts!

There may be a real issue here. Somewhere. If we squint. RFK Jr. claims insurance companies 'enroll' people without their knowledge to collect service fees. Maybe? It's possible. And it'd be fraud. But if so, they'd prosecute those companies, and they're not. So no, probably another MAGA scam.

Aaron Rupar@atrupar.com

RFK Jr announces a new initiative to kick people off their healthcare coverage but insists it's no big deal because "they don't even know they were enrolled in anything. They never make a claim."
