Mind to Supermind, with the inimitable @keithfrankish.com!
Recorded instead of taking a siesta between a day at Matalia beach and an evening session at @philosynthesis.com. Happy times...
Another Mind to Mind interview. I talk to philosopher Constantine Sandis about action and agency, Anscombe and Wittgenstein, the ethics of action, and the Parthenon marbles. The interview was recorded in Heraklion this summer. youtu.be/AZ5yPxTeD14@csandis.bsky.social
Owing to popular demand, we now offer a reference verification service, currently very popular amongst legal scholars and professionals, but increasingly across the humanities and social sciences.
As more authors use AI to build bibliographies, we are seeing a sharp rise in references that are misattributed and erroneous.
Our reference verification service is conducted by researchers with no AI involved, ensuring spotless, factually accurate publications.

I've finally cracked the problem of individual vs group agency:
An individual's practical reasoning concludes in action, but the practical reasoning of committees only concludes in action points.
I'm looking forward to this conference on Action, Politics, & Responsibility. This time next week in Tokyo!
I'll be talking about 'Agents as Truthmakers', which is a topic I've been thinking about for a while, but not yet in relation to group agency.

I was shocked and saddened to hear of David Charles' death. A wonderful human being and a great philosopher who did so much to bring back Aristotle's insights to the philosophy action.

A few weeks after The Selfish Gene was published, Kenny took part in an event with Dawkins at Balliol organised by Denis Noble.
There, he is said to have mocked the idea of replicators by asking Dawkins: “If all I knew about English was its alphabet, how could I possibly understand Shakespeare?”
Not every occasion for scholarly feedback is an evisceration or martyring of your originality as a researcher. But it can certainly feel like it. In our new blog, we discuss how to handle academic feedback
with the right blend of grace and temerity.

So a whole lot of my talented Humanities colleagues are now unemployed as of today. A lot of understandable concern over Exeter. But for over two decades my Hums colleagues were in the top quartile for their research contribution to society. History top 10. Now gone with only a national whisper.
It's very painful inside 95% of universities. The reality is that (a) 25% to 33% of posts will close; (b) a handful of unis will go bust and be forcibly merged; (c) Arts and Humanities will be restricted to a small number of institutions whose disgraceful behaviour certainly won't be forgotten.
