Alberta Referendum Fact Check - Part 2: Before you vote in the referendum today, it’s worth looking past the numbers in the immigration debate. Our newest video challenges the claim that non-permanent residents are driving up Alberta’s healthcare costs. #abpoli #abreferendum

Before you vote in the #albertareferendum, look at the immigration numbers. Omar Mouallem’s newest video challenges the claim that non-permanent residents are driving up Alberta healthcare costs. See the surprising reality behind the numbers and why we have to vote NO to the 9 and Option 1.

Albertans were asked to guess how much of our healthcare budget goes to non-permanent residents. The guesses? 15% to 50%. The reality? Just 1%. The budget strain isn't coming from immigrants. It's coming from UCP government choices. Vote NO on October 19 #ableg #canpoli #abpoli

Blaming immigrants is a mistake we can't afford to make. In our latest video with Linda Hoang, Sara discusses the upcoming referendum and why creating a two-tier system for basic human rights is dystopian. We need to band together. Vote NO to the Nine. #canpoli #abpoli #ableg

Blaming immigrants is a distraction from the real-world problems facing our public services. In our latest video with Linda Hoang, Avery talks about how the government created their own problem and is using newcomers as a scapegoat. Vote NO to the 9! #ableg #canpoli #abpoli

Blaming newcomers won't fix Alberta's healthcare and schools. It just divides us. In our latest video with Linda Hoang, Marcella talks about why targeting immigrants on the ballot isn't about fairness, it's scapegoating. Vote NO on Questions 1 to 9. #ableg #canpoli #abpoli

It’s wild how much we’re all being manipulated to think the problem for everything is immigrants. It’s absolutely not! We hit the streets for an experiment. Watch the reactions and share the truth before we vote. Vote NO to the 9! And Option 1 (Remain) on Question 10. #abpoli #canpoli #ableg

Instead of hiring educational assistants or addressing classroom sizes, Danielle Smith would rather ban books like The Handmaid's Tale. (Yes, that's really on the list of banned books here in Alberta.) Just fund the darn schools, Premier.

Canada’s new anti-scab legislation is in effect! That means federally-regulated employers can’t hire scabs during strikes and lockouts. This is a reminder that advocacy WORKS and that, thanks to the hard work of the NDP and union activists across the country, when we stand together, we win.

📢 UCP Needs to Listen to Albertans and Leave the Canada Pension Plan Alone EDMONTON, Alberta - A survey of 93,000 Albertans conducted by the provincial government has a very clear message: don’t touch the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

“There is no case for leaving the CPP,” said Uppal. “An Alberta plan would cost more, and deliver weaker investment returns and smaller pensions.” Uppal called on the UCP government to abandon all plans to take Alberta out of the Canada Pension Plan.

“I know Danielle Smith likes to flirt with separatists, but the Canada Pension Plan is one of the strongest reasons for Alberta to remain in Canada. The Premier needs to abandon this idea and stop threatening the retirement security of Albertans.”

📢 UCP Needs to Listen to Albertans and Leave the Canada Pension Plan Alone EDMONTON, Alberta - A survey of 93,000 Albertans conducted by the provincial government has a very clear message: don’t touch the Canada Pension Plan (CPP).

The results were released by the government after a lengthy request for information by the Edmonton Journal. CUPE Alberta President Raj Uppal says she was not surprised the survey showed 63% opposition to leaving the CPP, and only 10% support for an Alberta plan.
